I NEVER SAID GALENTO USED LISTON AS A SPARRING PARTNER.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT TO GET IT THROUGH YOUR PEA-SIZED BRAIN?

    Here's my quote
I said their were CLAIMS that Galento sparred with Liston. I don't know if he actually did or not nor do I give a ****

Stop avoiding my question like a coward. Where is your source, Liston either 32 or 33 for the Ali bout you ****ing idiot? I'm waiting.

We apparently can rule out a DOB of 1932, as not having good evidence behind it.
I think we can all authoritatively declare that Liston might have been 33 years old when he faced Clay.
Although it is possible that Liston goes back to the late 20's, meaning that he could have been up to 36 then.
Now we are presented with the prospect of 1923-meaning he could have turned 40 when he faced Clay.

Since there is so much uncertainty, we must accommodate all scenarios...

There is one other possibility...Although we should yield to the science & give an equivalent range of error, so roughly 260-350,000 years BCE.

Sonny Liston died last year. See for yourself a fact that all accounts agree on is the body was badly decomposed. No DNA investigation was conducted!
Las Vegas police department conducted the investigation! What are the chances that was conducted honestly? Come on!
What can we agree on? Sonny was known to have have angered the mob. He was threatening to spill about throwing the Ali fight. They were not going to put up with him much more, nor was Vegas PD. Vegas sheriff at the time was one other than Ralph Lamb! Ralph Lamb was in rancher/ casino magnate Benny Bunion’s pocket. Please look, see for yourself!
Sonny was bad for business and becoming a liability. How do you think the mob handled threats that were bad for business.
That same Mob had bilked Sonny out what should his after being heavyweight champion and carrying water for the mob (with the exception of refusing to throw the Wepner fight.
Worst of all the IRS was pursuing Sonny with a vengeance!
He was literally worth more dead than alive when taking into consideration the life insurance policy Sonny had purchased during sunnier times!
His decision to fake his death really seems pretty reasonable under the circumstances!

As Nick Tosches and others have uniformly noted Sonny was slinging h and would snort it occasionally but NEVER inject it! It is well known The Bear was terrified of needles! Yet the coroner noted that decedent was an IV drug user!
The badly decomposed body of one of his heroin customers.

Unfortunately, Sonny's remains are probably completely decomposed by now, so there's no way to do a DNA analysis.

Even if they weren’t, it wouldn’t tell us how old Liston was down to the year it would just give us an estimate.

An estimate would still be better than nothing. I still believe he was around 40 when he faced Ali.

I think age can be determined relatively accurately from a set of bones.

Great comments from Charles on Liston, thanks. In the 1953 picture of Liston he could easily be late 20's or 30. I've always felt Sonny was near 40 in his 1st fight with Ali by the way he moved, his reflexes, and appearance. In general a guy that age does look a certain way and I thought Liston fit the bill. It seems to me the reason for such confusion about his age is that he was born earlier than is generally thought.

I could be wrong but I think @Nighttrain raised DNA to question if it was in fact Liston’s corpse found in Las Vegas. DNA doesn’t provide for estimating age. It seems the teeth of the corpse, more accurately the enamel, can allow for reasonably accurate calculation of age. I don’t know that the tech for same existed back then or if they would’ve necessarily applied it anyway since identity of the corpse wasn’t in question.

I posted on this topic in a previous thread. I still stand by my original research and observation:

The 1940 US Census record for the Liston family was enumerated on April 23rd. As there were still two-thirds of the year remaining, Liston would be "10" had he been born anytime after Apr 23, 1929. So, his oldest birthdate possible would have been Apr 24, 1929, or 10 years, 11 months, and 29 days. That would make him 2 months shy of 35 when he first fought Ali.
