At last! The battle of washed up rugby stars turned middling pugilists from either side of the marginal Tasman Sea! :ibutt

It's hard to believe Sonny Bill is still in his thirties (if barely). His controversial victory over Francois Johannes "The White Buffalo" Botha feels like forever ago - probably because it's been 12½ years.

Gallen is a wizened 43 himself - but made his pro debut five years after Williams'. He actually fought his third contest on the undercard of Williams vs. Chauncy "The Hillyard Hammer / The Panda" Welliver in 2015, after Williams had graduated to headliner status following numerous appearances on Anthony Mundine and Alex Leapai undercards.

    Common opponents:

    • Mark Richard "The Super Samoan" Hunt - the K1 kickboxing champion and UFC veteran made a third failed attempt to cross over into boxing (having picked up a loss in 1998 and draw in 2000), losing a UD to Gallen in 2020. He then scored a TKO4 victory over Williams in 2022.
    • Barry Andrew "Bazza / Big Bad Barry" Hall - former Aussie rules footballer made his pro debut against Gallen in 2019 and fought him to a draw, and was subsequently defeated via TKO1 by Williams in his sophomore outing.
Neither man has laced up in almost three years. SBW has been out since the loss to Hunt and Gal since beating Justin Hodges for a second time in their rematch - both taking place in November of 2022.

For some reason this is scheduled for eight rounds of two minutes' duration. You know, like for women. :dunno

Gallen batters and shatters that glass jaw. SBW isn't a fighter. Gallen may be a former rugby league guy but he has some dog in him.

Anyone have an estimation of the time of day the main event will be in the UK?

It was SBW who demanded the 2min rounds and he is the younger man.
A couple years ago I would've confidently picked Gallen to stop him but now at 43 I see it more as 50/50 I expect SBW to try and avoid a scrap and try and jab his way to a points win. I am still backing Gallen to win though he is a slight outsider with Sportsbet.

The other problem they have is the show is on the Stan app it is not on Foxtel like all the No Limit shows. Gallen was with No Limit and for whatever reason SBW refused to deal with them. The fight being on Stan means a lot less people will be tuning in. If the fight was on Foxtel it would've got plugged non stop during the NRL as this is a fight a lot of casual footy fans would be in to. The ticket sales are bad I was actually offered free tickets which I did not take because I can't be bothered travelling out to Olympic Park on a Wednesday night LOL.
I will pay the $70 PPV on Stan haha the fight is about 3 or 4 years too late. Anyway I hope Gallen smashes the gronk.

Also Anthony Mundine's son Rahim (CJ) Mundine will be having his second fight on the undercard at middleweight.

Yep that is why SBW demanded 2min rounds so he can try and run from the junkyard dog Gallen. I think SBW is about 6'3 and Gallen is 5'10 in height.

Yep they changed it from 12 rounds to 10 rounds mid fight because Botha was coming on LOL "hey hey this is Queensland" good thing Wednesday nights fight is in Sydney. Gallen went to war with Hunt and SBW got his block knocked off. Also IB mentioned the other common opponent Barry Hall who Gallen had a draw with Hall was another guy who demanded 2min rounds with Gallen and the consensus was Gallen was robbed of victory. Then SBW waited until Hall was 45 to fight him. You are right Sonny is a joke and a POS he walked out on his team the Bulldogs mid season to take a better offer from a French Rugby club.

Money Bill is a bit of a dope. I’m not sure what else he can do outside of sport because he is a terrible commentator/media personality.

But I do think he wins this one comfortably.

I love one of the comments I read on YouTube.

Someone mentioned about drug testing and are they going to let Gal just be on the gear. To which somebody replied:

“Yes mate they want the full blown G-Train, not an old red rattler”

    :lol::lol::lol:
