Sony Liston vs. Amos Lincoln

i was talking about a prime vs prime scenario

 

Prime Liston would be bad news. He used his jab more consistently than young Foreman. That big jab would stop Smokin Joe in his tracks. That sets the table for the power shots behind it. Uppercut, hooks. Frazier has to get inside and Sonny was a powerhouse.
Joe is my all time favorite boxer. He can hit and I don't think every "big" puncher beats him. In this case i think Liston has the combination of
1. Boxing skills (jab)
2. Power (both hands)
3. Physical strength. If he needs to push Joe back it wouldn't be a problem.
4. Experience.
5. Chin

I would be rooting for Joe 100% but I would have to bet on Sonny to win some $$$

 

Joe frazier had absolutely no problem with a jab.... And liston never pushed back anybody , he was pretty even with liston in weight and size.(forget the reach etc)Foreman was way way worse stylistical match for frazier than liston.
Chin? Frazier proved having better chin than liston

 

he is not walking through Liston's big power jab. An average jab? Yea probably any boxer type fighters. Not Liston.

 

Joe had a tough chin but he also had to expose it more because of his style of fighting. He is gonna catch more clean shots as I stated before he is trying to get in on Liston.

 

Average nothing. Frazier never had any problem with a jab good or not, the jab of Ali was way faster and more accurate than liston's and joe in 1971 had no problem avoiding it with his bobbing and weaving

 

Yea sure. He would decapitate Frazier.

The only Sonny Liston I know of was a certified Bad ass. Your boring me at this point.

I know that leotis martin would not ko any version of frazier cold.yes frazier proved better chin despite his style made him an easier target
Liston had a bigger upper body and frazier had much thicker bigger legs.they were pretty even in size

 

I'm with on your picking Liston. In regards to their chins their pretty close. Both Sonny and Joe were dropped when they were a bit green by lesser boxers. Biggest factor Joe has to expose his more.
