Hes had almost 40 professional fights and been constantly fighting now for 5 years....

    yet its STILL

oh... well he didnt have any amature fights

    ???????

    come on already...

Everyone knows im a JR hater and im not going to deny that.... but i will say i actually give him props... to me he showed a lot of grit and i felt sorry for him that they were booing and throwing stuff at him, i had the fight around 6-4 for Jr... he still makes the same constant mistakes that he made when i was first watching him and thats not moving his head when hes getting hit... he just keeps it there like hes mayorga, hell... mayorga at his best actually had better head movement.

anyways... other plus's i saw are

Jr's punches are no joke at his point.... GRANTED, he is fighting naturally smaller men to a degree BUT you can still tell there is quite a bit behind those shots

Hes good at conserving energy.... what i mean is stance wise, yes he throws needless combos at times, but what i mean is he stays calm... he doesnt overeact and he fights within himself

to me he showed a lot of heart.... a lot of will.... when he could have coasted he bit the bullet and kept fighting until he was simply too tired.

hes def coming along as a fighter thats for sure...

but DAMN.... hes been fighting for half a decade now as a professional fighter and i still see 'well he didnt have any amature fights
    as an excuse?

its not like he just picked up the gloves in 03, he knew how to box well enough when he was 11 for gods sakes...

Its weird... this time, to me its like, hes getting **** on a bit too much imo, but at the same time getting way too much credit

but at the end of the day, i will stand up and admit im a hater

people have the right to love him as much as they want, i just get tired of the excuses and props, ect... but at the same time at the moment i think people are being too hard especially the mexicans AT the fight...

yes i know this is biased but i just had to vent:patsch

Im with you all the way Kirk.

Im tired of the no amatuer background excuse, it would work if he was still a teen but hes 22 and hasnt shown much improvement in his last few fights.

I still consider him an alright prospect, but im getting tired that some act as if hes the sure thing when there are much more surer prospects than him,(hes not even the best mexican lt.middleweight prospect i give that prestege to Angulo.) I just especially hate him for prostituting his father's last name to get his own PPVs.

The thing is, they use this amateur thing as an excuse and then say so far his career has been his amateur background. Well guess what? Usually when amateurs start hitting the 20 fight mark, they're good. I have a friend who must only have 30 fights, at tops, and he's nationally ranked. By 40 fights you know what the **** you're doing unless there's something else holding you back, a mental block or something. yeah, You're still ironing things out, but by even the 5th amateur fight or so guys start being able to apply what they do in the gym.

Agreed. I am not a hater. He has many of the genetic advantages his father had, along with the style. He simply can't hurt men his own size, and this is a big problem. One I don't see a fix for.

you're right Kirk...how many times do we have to listen or read about Jr not having any amatuer fights...but how many fighters have a boxing legend as their dad?...isn't that an advantage? being in the gym since he was able to walk...his father teaching him things, most boxers wouldn't know when fighting as amatuers. What if he fights 60 professional fights...will people still mention his lack of amatuer experience, as an excuse for his poor performance or quality of opponents?...it's getting ridiculous.

Exactly. Which is why he will be in BIG trouble the moment he stops fighting C and D level opponents.:yep

So why make threads about a fighter you think is a bum after every one of his fights? Its not like anyone overrates him. You guys wouldn't give a **** about him if it wasn't for his name and thats the exact thing you guys always complain about.:rofl

People just hate on him because of his name.

    A few things
Jr. throws some pretty nice shots to the body ala daddy.
His chin must be pretty sturdy. He was getting hit with alot of flush shots and didnt really look hurt at any time.
His defense has got to improve big time. He has no head movement and he keeps his hands too low. He has to apply at least one of those.
He will not be near as good as his father. Ever.

Im Mexican and i was very upset at the decision. I didnt keep a scorecard for this fight but i saw it as being pretty even. A draw would have been just in my book. What the hell was the 3rd judge thinking!!!
This is whats bad for boxing.

i was impressed to an extent by jr. he threw much more than usual and he had a better killer instinct that i thought was missing every time he got hit. in past fights he would just take punches with no retaliation. he paid for all that today though because he trained like he did for all his past fights. since he stepped up his game today in tha ring he forgot to step up his conditioning. he threw more than he ever has which produced a good scrap but his conditioning wasnt made for the type of fight he put forth tonight. I never seen him throw flurries like tonight but hopefully he can learn and at least grap a belt in time withthe perfect opponent.

Next year should be the year that Arum puts up or shuts up for Jr. 5 years and 40 fights is more than enough for him to figure out if he's better suited for 147 or 154, and if he's ready for Top 10 comp.

The Vanda fight is solid competition, but by the end of 2009 JCC Jr. should be in title contention or he'll be hovering around Camacho Jr. status.
