Twas over a week ago That Frank got on the mic and told us all to expect an announcement "next week" Twas like 3 weeks ago when we were told it was "99% done" Well.... I never actually thought I'd say this but I'm starting to feel bad for Wilder. If Fury has pulled out ill give wilder a pass if he fights a bum just to stay active. As for Fury hes put himself in a hell of a predicament here, because I think he 100% knows he's not ready for that fight but if he pulls out now.... WOW.
I love Fury but nothing would surprise me I heard Fat Dan saying that he heard Fury has had a change of heart.
Hearn's last offer to Wilder for Whyte was $7-8 million. I will be very surprised if Wilder/Fury happens. Whole thing just seemed like a PR stunt to promote the Pianeta fight. Wilder may or may not be disappointed if Fury pulls out. The numbers he's been throwing around for the fight seem wildly unrealistic given neither are proven PPV draws on either side of the pond. So the whole fight seems lacking genuine sincerity on both sides and seems more like a big self promotion scam on both sides. Plus the WBC confirmed the mandatory with Breazeale needs to happen by end of year and Fury isn't a unification fight and so what happens there? Wilder/Fury if it happens will see the winner stripped of the belt? Or has the WBC granted special circumstances for this fight? The cynic in me says Fury pulls out and fights another easy journeymen while Wilder fights Breazeale.
No way this was just a PR stunt. I thought that when the rumours of this bout were first reported, but then it blew up completely. If Fury doesn't fight Wilder next then this is gonna look tremendously bad for Warren and Fury. So much so, that it far outweighs any extra hype they would have got for Fury vs the pudding Pianetta. It will just genuinely be Fury feeling he desperately needs more time, or he shat the bed.
