pavlik got his rep by putting his balls on the line.

miranda, taylor twice - is more than most guys his age have ever risked in pro boxing, right?

something you'll never do to me in person with that last remark.

it's only people who reply to me who have to be a coward over the net like that. i dont need to do that to make my point - and thats because if we ever had a tea party i'd carry the same confidence face to face i do now - but none of you would.

this is my last post tonight, i'm off to bed.

you can either whine together about my 'arrogance' or you can PM me about what you disagree with in my posts.

i'll find out in a couple of days.

    sleep well.

Right...Sturm got $2.1 mio and Abraham got $1.5 mio for their last fight, respectively.

So about $3 mio each when fighting each other will make them more money than fighting Pavlik...

You can count on around 5 millions of TVs turned on. Sturm apperently gets a bit more (1-2 mill) but the Klit Bro are real slam dunkers - around 20 mill!

From a fan´s view I was dissapointed in Marquez quitting but that guy is 37 years old, had problems with his eyes for his whole career and took a beating from round 3 on. He could have gotten hurt in there. So, I think it was the right decision to pull him out. No point in getting hurt while having no chance.

Marquez damged Abraham´s rib in the second round after that Abraham twitched everytime he got hit there but it hadn´t any influence on his performance.

Abraham said he had some trouble getting into the right mood after the flu so he wasn´t 100% on his game. But he also said that he has no problem making the weight that he has to lose around 6 kg for each fight but that he needs that to get into the right mood. He said if he doesn´t have to work hard to lose the weight he has not the feeling of getting ready to a fight. He also said his weight problems are exxagerated.

Abraham´s promoter said Abraham-Sturm has to happen in February/March or it happens never. Both got rid of their mandatories and the timing would be perfect. He also said that they plan fighting Pavlik in summer 09. He said the TV stations would be no problem but money would be because 3 Million for each is a bit much. Sturm´s promoter who attended at the fight said basically the same. Arthur said if money is the problem, he fights for free - we can just hope this was no empty phrase.
Somehow I have a good feeling about that fight.

    @bad intentions 2:
Sturm´s resume is as good as Abraham´s. He doesn´t look as impressive but that´s a style thing. Sturm also has the right style to beat Abraham, if he would be able to is pretty much a guess. I wanna see this fight and as a German I would prefer this one even over Pavlik-Abraham.
Oh, and btw. the US is not the place to be in boxing anymore. Fighters right now can earn about as much in Britain and Germany. A fighter does not need to fight in the states anymore to prove himself. Only some backwards, in the past dwelling figures like you still think so.

don't judge a book by its cover. Although Marquez did quit against Abraham, if you've seen many of his previous fights then you know he's not a quitter.

also, the fact that he quit is a testament to Abraham's power, which really seems to be unreal.

when you fight for a title, a real title like abraham has, and you dont get off your stool because you dont think you can win, with half the fight left....thats a quitter. this is the fight game and doesnt say much for a fighter who gives up when the going gets tough,

but at the same time Marquez in his career has done plenty of actions where a quitter would have quit when he didn't, so how can he be a quitter?

Marquez came to get paid, and knew he had no realistic chance of winning, or at least, he didn't believe he had. He put in a bit of effort, and a show, then quit and went home. I suspect that was the plan all along, it wasn't much of a fight.

not really lumping him as a quiter his whole career, but certainly quit in this fight....... people are busting cottos ass for the beating he got and he finally gave up in round 11. marquez was hardly taking a beating and it was only the 6th round when he GAVE UP.
