How in the hell they think that their guy, who is damaged goods and hasn't fought in 3 years, should just automatically deserve a title shot against the Maskaev/Peter winner is assinine. I mean give me a break. WTF has Vitali Klitschko done to be granted this free ride to a title shot? One could actaully argue, what has he done period?

If he wants to get serious about the sport again, let him first make it through a single training camp, then let him beat a couple guys, as he should have to, and then perhaps he gets a title shot. Sometime in 2009... maybe.

I think its bull ****, Vitali should have to at least fight 2 decent oppenents to get a chance at a title. Guys like Mccall should be up in arms about this, you should have to work for your opportunities instead of having it handed to you after 3 plus years.

I feel before you tie up another good contender or champion, first prove you can make it through a training camp and then will talk about other fights in the future.

is this news to you or something? When he retired he was granted this bull**** emiritus status. That's why. The only reason he gets the shot: The WBC is corrupt.

It really shouldn't matter, it's a paper belt and stuff like this just further discredits it. Actually, he technically should have a shot @ Maskaev before Peter just because of his Emiritus status.

Umm.. how bout the fact he was the champ before retiring because of injury.

He never lost the belt, thus he deserves the direct shot at the title he never lost in the ring.

He retired as a champion...you could make arguments why he deserves a shot right away and why he doesn't deserve one right away. I don't care much because it seems less worthy fighters have gotten title shots in recent vintage.

I guess Lewis deserves a shot at the title as well if he decided to come back, he never lost his belt in the ring either.

Vitali has been ****ing fans and other good fighters over for almost 3 years now, he has effected Rahman, Peter, Mccline, and Maskaev. If Vitali really wants a title he should have to work his way up again, I know if I told my boss I needed a 3 year vacation and I wanted to come back and make the same amount of money as before, he would laugh at me.

If I was a fighter I would make Vitali sign a contract saying that if he does back out of the fight he still has to pay my purse, sparring partners and trainers still get payed if you fight or not. If I was a top fighter I would not take a fight for Vitali, it would be just a waste a time training for someone who will just back out a couple weeks before the fight anyway.

If Lewis came back, I'd have no problem with him fighting for a belt.

I think it's stupid to not take a tune-up, but hey, whatever.

I don't know why people have a problem with champs who never lost their belt getting a shot at the guy who was handed the belt they let go.

Lewis was also awarded Emeritus champion status so he too would be given an immediate title shot when he wanted one.

Less worthy fighters have gotten shots....but you could definately make an arguement that he doesnt (just as you could with the slew of others that get one as well).

Worst part about this isnt the fact that it stalls unification......

He lost to Lewis in a good fight a few years back...and he shut out and stopped Danny "The Punching Bag" Williams in 7.

:patsch If I were Vitali I would then demand the same and if you have to back out you would be ruined forever because of the skillless can you are, you don't have the financial means to back it up. :yep

It's true that he has the right because the WBC gave him the right, but with his recent problems, I think he ought to fight a warm-up before any potential shot. That said though, I really doubt we'll see Vitali in the ring again.

  14. Vitaly hasn't fought in 3 long years and can't stay healthy it's hard to imagine him coming back and regaining a title, to much ring rust..

very poor logic, at what point do you say, listen you've just been out of the ring too long, we need to make sure you can offer a competitive fight. is it 1 year? 3? what about 10? there has to be a limit.

I'm no klitschko fan, but I admit if he were to come out of retirement, beat someon in the top fifteen world rankings, not sanctioning body rankings cause they could put my dogcather at 15 then it would have a veneer of legitimacy.
