After the jeff lacy fight we can only say that calzaghe's only claim to faim is a 43 year old contraversal spit decisoin victory over hopkins. Kessler is more unproven than lacy so don't bring him up. Worst undeafeated most celebrated champion ever to fight in my opionion. Thoughts?
If thats the case he wouldn't have beaten Hopkins ... but if this is what you think is true than he would get exposed against Jones come Nov.
just stating it how I see it. If he does'nt beat jones convincingly then it still won't prove how good he is being that jones is shot worse than hopkins.
No matter if his resume is weak or not ... there should've been someone to knock him off during that unbelieveable reign at 168.
C'mon, man. This is just baiting an argument. It's just silly. You make it sound like the Lacy we saw tonight is the same fighter Joe fought in '05. That's just not the case. Lacy was KO-ing everybody before he met Joe, with barely a problem. Donnell Wiggins, Syd Vanderpool, Omar Sheika, Rubin Williams, Robin Reid, Scott Pemberton -- all solid fighters, who Lacy just blew through. And at the time Lacy had a mini-Tyson mystique to match his scary physique. People were scared of him, and there was this wave of inevitability that he would be the next big fighter. You gotta give Joe some props for derailing a freight train.
I do see your point but lacy's current state still proves that joe's resume is no where near ATG status
Calzaghe schooled him and exposed his weaknesses so all can see how to beat jeff lacy if they didnt know before. With his 0 going he is less feared when he steps in the ring. Also he has had a couple of bad injuries in the last couple of years. I hope he will improve and work his way back to near the top. He seems a good enough guy and every rat has jumped from ship Lacy since the calzaghe defeat. Give the guy a break. If you think that the lacy that fought tonight was on the same planet as the one that went into the ring against calzaghe then nothing anyone can say will appease your hate for calzaghe. atsch
Its not even worth defending Calzaghe's position in boxing to a ****ing thread like this. Anyone with half a brain can appreciate what Calzaghe has been able to do.
So you agree his resume is far from ATG status, thats all I'm trying to say here that he is no where near as good as his biggest fans say.
