Sorry for the modern intrusion, but Roy Jones - if he beats Joe where does he place?

So many BS in this. I´m too tired to post on, it´s just too stupid to argue with someone who is so biased that he twists any fact to suit his argument. You should go into politics or become a lawyer. :good

Those guys are all not top champions when Jones fought them. Additionally, some of your arguments are just plain and simple stupid. Jones beat Tito more convincingly as Winky :rofl

    You are sooo damned biased.

Finally I´m out. Damned politicians/lawyers, always hated them.

He was one of the best, but overrated ridiculously by some of his fans who only choose to look at the good and not the bad that made his career.

And Hearns wasn't ancient? Barkley was active, but he had been in a gruelling fight with an old looking Hearns (who hadn;t fought in 9 months since fighting Hill) and then dropped back down in weight to fight Toney and looked horrible. What exactly looked good about Barkley against Toney, other than his determination? Everyone was saying Barkley should call it a day after (and even during) the fight.

Even if you argue that he did beat Mercado, the fact that he got run close is proof enough that he was not at his best.

Calzaghe was not prime either though and not in his preferred weight division like Jones was when he faced Mike. Yes, Mike was still a good fighter, but if Roy is as good as you want to make him out to be, he should have had an easier time with McCallum than what he did. Mike already at that stage was losing (controversially) to a guy like Tiozzo and was not expected to trouble Jones.

Has there never been a rematch after a close fight that ends in unsatisfactory fashion? Is it only after a robbery that a rematch occurs?

My argument isnt anything to do with the Tito win, thats a nice little win on the end of a career, you wont debate the other wins because all you watch is Otke and DM fights on German TV and havent paid due attention to the other top fighters around

    1. Every fighter has their weaknesses, Toney is no exception, but his package at 160-168 was great, his skills sublime.

    2. Firstly Toney's legacy certainly doesn't live off Barkley. I don't think Barkley was great anyway but he proved he was still a top dog against Hearns who proved he was a top dog against Hill. A better Hill than DM would later beat. He was still pressuring well against Toney. Yes Barkley was probably weight drained, but isnt everyone arguing Toney was weight drained too. Is no win valid today because of weight draining because every fighter drains to make weight other than Floyd and Barrera today

    3. Actually it should have been a wide decision to Hopkins, it was a robbery.

    4. Calazage has wanted to move to 175 since 2003 and has been drained at 168, Hopkins best division was 160, lets not pretend Hopkins was bigger than Joe

Again why are great fighters not allowed a tough fight against an old great or another world class fighter? BTW Tiozzo was a king pin at 175 and better than DM at the time, pity he moved to cruser where he was a little small.

    5. Many people considered DM-Hall a robbery/bad stoppage, it was controversal if nothing else

You got that you are fighting wind mills here?

Yeah, I only watched DM and Ottke ... when you say so. Only very few people were able to make as a big fool out of themselves as you did in that thread. You are to Jones what China-Hand-Joe is to Calzaghe

If Jones wins without pulling a Ben Johnson then it would mean an awful lot.

I actually think Roy has a shot at this one.

IMO, Roy Jones is a top 20 ATG. If he beats Calzaghe, he will jump up a couple of spots maybe, but not much. I don't think RJJ can do it, but if he does, it will be a great victory only because of how shot he looked before. Calzaghe showed against Hopkins that he does not have the skill to match his workrate, he is not an elite level fighter. It will not rate as highly as RJJ's existing wins over Toney and Hopkins in my eyes.

Remind us again how Roy Jones should have fought Bell who wasnt even a contender or belt holder during Roys reign. You said that remember :deal

Remind us again how Jones should have rematched Toney who went on to lose to Griffin TWICE who he fought instead. You said that remember :deal

You're ignorant on none German boxing :deal
