Grange has tried to get this guy to replace Toney.... This content is protected Two weeks out from the fight, he failed the blood test. No Blood.
Gealey must defend by May Marcus. I really think you are being too hard on Grange here, I know the guys well and they are pros who care about their fighters. Toney screwing up his visa is not their problem (if indeed this is the case), this happens when you deal with certain areas of the world. Hopefully a suitable replacement is found
You have got to be kidding me Phil. Unless your friends with them , and thats cool, but mate. Being young, (well he was when he won the belt) its very important to fight on a regular basis. Do you think 3 fights in almost 2 years in acceptable? And if you know the details of the visa , please share it with us. Im off to tennis, ill be waiting for your response Phil.
Do I think 3 fights in 2 years acceptable? No but sometimes circumstances come into it which are outside peoples control and Dan's had a jinxed run. I would have liked to have seen more activity, who wouldn't but I believe this can't all be laid at Granges feet
you know the sayin mate... u make your own luck. im pretty pumped over this phil, if grange wants to be trainer, promoter and match maker they have better lernt a lesson from all this and know they are out of there depth. if dan doesnt leave them after this they should have the guts to say he may be better off finding someone else to run things. i dont mean the boxing training so much but all the other stuff.
I'd be very suprised if he left them mate, he is a very loyal bloke and they treat him (like the rest of their fighters) incredibly well
stay on topic phil. if u think im ripping grange...i am!! if u think i dont like them as people your wrong. do u know what happen with the visa of Toney? he gets treated well by grange? give me a ****in break...who cares...this is about getting him decent and regular fights, getting him world exposure.
For ****s sake Marcus! I never said you didn't like them. My entire point is that more often than not there is more to the situation than what's on the surface. How am I not staying on topic? You said he should leave Grange, I replied I doubt that would happen. Who do you suggest Dan signs with? I am keen to see your response
i dont care if they try there best and treat him well. back on topic. well gee phil...u want me to suggest what geale does? if my job was to manage geale id take him to the states and travel around to the well known gyms, meeting and greeting trainers and promoters. i not in boxing as a job but id guess promoters hang around gyms from time to time. id have geale training and sparring every middle who wanted a go at every gym. have the head trainer have a look at geale, 5 to ten minutes.. hang around after training is over and speak to the trainer...talking up the ibo belt... geale telling his want and desire to crack to u.s market. geale could sum them up as a person he would want to be trained by or not. i cant believe they didnt take him on a u.s tour after he won his belt....
so he must befend by may? and grange are in talks with choc. no way choc has a ibo ranking. geale giving up the belt? this is a nightmare.
I know you feel strongly about this topic and I appreciate that. Now going off your suggestion, how many US promoters would be keen on taking on a quiet-spoken AUSTRALIAN who would help old grannies accross the street and who has only ever done just enough to beat his opponent? Not many I'd be ready to bet. His reputation and international identity will be established after his next opponent and I'm sure you will be happy then
