I just saw a tag for Top Rank announcing the Montiel vs Donaire fight and noticed that Mike Jones is fighting Soto-Karass on the under card. Is this correct, reason I asked is that I'm not seeing it billed as "II" or rematch. Well anyway the first fight was a close one and pretty entertaining. I expect the second one to be the same.
Karass got jobbed last time no doubt. But I dont think Mike will do a 100 punch combo in round 2 this time and be gassed.. I think he'll somewhat easily outbox Karass to a wide UD.
Nah karass will make him slug it out for sure'...karass likes making himself tempting to slug with cuz some get good shots on him and it makes them want to chance it and go for more then he just tires' em out and he gets stronger '.....hope he gets the win this time guys like that put on shows
I think mike jones will face up with either malignaggi or alvarez in 2011 both will be beltholders, but yeah he lost that fight.
Yeah I think Jones will not repeat that mistake. Karass can absorb some punishment!!! I do feel Jones has the ability to outbox Karass, but I think he'll get lured into a slugfest. Soto-Karass won't do anything different, it's up to Jones to bring a different gameplan and not make this next fight so close.
I expect Jones to fight a more discipline fight, not chase a KO and box his was to an easy UD or late stoppage. But in true ESB General Forum fashion (Especially these NEW Posters) all they'll talk (post) about....is how Soto Karass got robbed in the first fight. For example...see the thousands of Threads/Post about Mayweather/Castillo I
If Jones can improve his conditioning, I'll favor him to win (cleanly). Needing 5 rounds to recover after overextending yourself in one round is unacceptable for an up and comer of Jones' reputation that's looking to step up to being a legit contender; the dude should have energy to burn. Especially considering he's gone 10 and 8 rounds before. I think he overlooked Soto-Karass and paid the price for it, but Jones should be able to bounce back and perform better in the rematch.
same thing I was thinking. I could tell through the fight who the better fighter was, but his dumbass gassed out
yea jones is definitely gonna fight more disciplined this time around, he's not gonna make the rookie mistake of throwing a 90 power punch combination in a row. i got jones by UD or late stoppage
Jones UD this time. If he or his trainers have any brains at all I don't think he'll make the same mistake and punch himself out early again. So without that mistake he would have dominated the fight pretty much and I think he will this time.
I still need to see the first one. You skip one PPV, and wind up inadvertently missing out on a controversial outcome (and good fight, from the sound of it) between two of your favorite under-the-radar welterweights. :-(
Agreed. Yeah, you fair weather fan. If it wasn't for 40,000+ posts, I wouldn't even know you liked boxing.
