Hmmm.... I actually has El Mass. winning 9 narrowly.

Mbaye is obviously a much better fighter, but he doesn't have th air to work enough and the Marrocan is in much better shape.

    Simply outworking him.

El Mass. now 2 in front.

I think El Mass wins this. Mbaye is breathing so hard....

He didn't train at all for this it seems. Underestimating the marrocan.

At least the Marrocan is in shape and punches a lot...

Very featherfisted but Mabye cannot do much about it still.

    Round 10

El Massoudi meets M'Baye in the middle of the ring and claps down with high stiff-armed rights and slapping left hooks around the side. M'Baye is trying to drive him back with straighter punches but unable to get off cleanly with the wild buzzsaw leaning in to grind against him and then whirling around him up close. Nice uppercut by M'Baye! It only sends El Massoudi a step back before resuming his slapping hooks on the carousel track and quick leans in to rest against M'Baye. El Massoudi jumps in place to issue his weight from one foot to another, then windmills another flurry at M'Baye from the outside. They hook together and both hit arm. Very sloppy stuff. M'Baye tries to land a right and grab with his left at the same time and just smothers himself. A big accidental head clash, and both are checked for cuts. El Massoudi whips up a few hard right hands to the head as M'Baye just looks to reach out and snatch him.

    97-93 Ismael El Massoudi

    Round 11

El Massoudi slaps M'Baye with left and right hooks, standing just a foot away. Really consistent accuracy by El Massoudi now, as M'Baye just slowly goes through the motions of his own long hooks and uppercuts. M'Baye is falling in with his shots and folding his long arms up to pin them against El Massoudi and bear down on him. El Massoudi is pushed to the ropes but keeps working th ebody. Looping right hand and a hook as he drives forward to meet M'Baye. El Massoudi lands a right, then ducks a jab and lands a left hook before leaning in to clinch. M'Baye tries to paste him with a 1-2 but hits forearm and is grabbed again as he falls in. Slapping left hook to the chin by El Massoudi. M'Baye is getting outworked in the clinches and is unable to land at long range.

    10-9 El Massoudi

    107-102 El Massoudi

    11th.

El Massoudi is still smoothering Mbaye.

Mbaye has to KO El Mass. or he cannot win now.

yep, El Mass won that one too.

    3 in front now.

BTW: the two Eurosport commentators agree with me.. 1 has 3 points difference and the other 4 points in front.

    Round 12

    They hug before the bell.

M'Baye paws with his jab. El Massoudi stays far off, switching directions as he keeps M'Baye shuffling along after him. They lean in and clinch. M'Baye tries a clubbing right hand up close but sees El Massoudi roll right underneath it. They wrestle and push their arms together on the inside. El Massoudi lansd a hook. M'Baye grabs him around the back. El Massoudi slices with a right hand and falls into a clinch. M'Baye puts his hands up at the top of his head in a weird stance as he walks right into El Massoudi and bumps his chest into his face. M'Baye has a hook ducked as he takes a flurry to the face from beneath.

M'Baye is down!!! He hurt his leg!!!!!

    He is counted out!!!

    Horrible fight.

    Horrible.

He was pushed down by El Mass. and twisted his leg.

Anyway... he was losing and would not have KOed the guy.

    Over and out.

    El Mass won.

    Very odd ending.

It's just as well, because El Massoudi was probably about to get screwed on the cards (while deserving a win in the neighborhood of 118-110 or 117-111). At least he did win.

Sounds like M'Baye really dug deep in the 12th to pull out a shocking EVT win

From the sounds this could be the EVT of the year!

EuroSport are now showing slow motion replays of every exchange in the 12th up to that point. There is no evidence of anything that might result in that severe a leg injury (ie M'Baye twisting his knee or something). Prior to going down - during a scrappy bit of infighting where El Massoudi was getting the better of him as usual and landed a cuffing left hand - he wasn't even wincing or anything to indicate he had leg pain.

I think he just quit. :verysad
