    Kessler joins chase for Calzaghe

Mikkel Kessler won back his WBA super-middleweight title in June

WBA super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler is heading to New York to seek a clash with the winner of Joe Calzaghe v Roy Jones, who clash on 8 November.
"Soon I will leave for the States," said the Dane after his fearsome three-round demolition of Danilo Haeussler.
"I hope to get a new match as soon as possible and if Bernard Hopkins, Kelly Pavlik, Calzaghe or one of the other top contenders are ready, I'm ready.
"Calzaghe told me he did not want a rematch but I'm still hoping."
Kessler, 29, lost his WBA and WBC titles against Calzaghe last November, but won back the vacant WBA belt against Dimitri Sartison in June.

The Calzaghe defeat at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium remains the only defeat in the Dane's 42-fight career, with 31 of his wins coming through stoppages.
Calzaghe himself - who faces Jones at Madison Square Garden - has insisted that his 12-round win over Kessler was one of the toughest of his career and that the Dane is underrated in the US.
The undefeated Welshman, 36, says he expects the Jones fight to be his last, and if he were to carry on Kessler is unlikely to be the most attractive bout financially.
Bernard Hopkins - who Calzaghe defeated on points in Las Vegas in April - has also promised to be ringside at the Garden. His stock has risen rapidly after this month's demolition of Pavlik, and "the Executioner" says he is desperate for a rematch with Calzaghe next year, with the Millennium Stadium mooted as a potential venue.

Reporter:''Joe,is there a possibility of you 2 meeting again down the road?''
Calzaghe:''Well I won tonight, and I'm just getting oder while he just is getting better so....I don't know''
    Any questions?

Yeah, but it was a great fight, a close fight, Kessler has improved since then, Joe has faded slightly, Calzaghe vs Kessler II is the fight I for one want to see, not some Chad Dawson hype fest. A real quality fighter like Mikkel.

Kessler wins 2nd time around, I'm confident of it.

He'll need to prayer to the Nordic Gods for this fight to happen though. He should focus on more realistic targets.

I say: let it go. I am a huge Kessler fan - I think he will rightfully be the SMW-king for the years to come. The loss is just there and like the poster above quoted Calzaghe himself: he is getting older and Kessler better - no shame to have the 1 one the record.

Of course Kessler could win in a rematch. Hes a very good fighter.

If this were the old days were top fighters sometimes fought each other 3,4,5 or more times then Kessler could win one or two of these fights, however, i believe Calzaghe would win the majority as he is the better fighter.

All said though, this isn't the old days. This is now and in modern boxing you are lucky if you even get one shot at the top guy in your division so if you are fortunate enough to get that shot then you best grab it with both hands. Mikkel didn't.

Would love to see a 2nd fight with these two, cant see it though, the first fight clearly showed me who the better man was. Kessler struggled once his jab and right hand were taken away and Calzaghe knows all he has to do is box using angles again. If that doesn't work he can adjust in ring, mid rounds, Kessler just doesn't seem able to do that. Style wise Joe has his number unfortunately
