I wonder if he suspected that Pulev might pull up with an injury? Takam was next in line though, he must have been getting paid a worthwhile wedge just for doing a training camp as a standby.
Just pull the show and wait and fight a better opponent but hearn and aj are to greedy to do that so they bring in Parker's left overs what about Ortiz isn't he wba mandatory he would take the fight
ortiz is still not allowed to fight, either its the drugs or a health issue whyte would of been the better option but i suppose its IBFs choice
Takam isn’t a great fight on paper but I couldn’t really see Pulev posing too many problems either...would be disappointed if I had tickets but I’d be more disappointed had I forked out for hotels etc. Only for the event to be cancelled...
Got to laugh at these AJ casuals tweeting Hearn and demanding refunds. As if they have ever heard of Takam. As if they forked out all that money to see Pulev. Pure idiots, too thick to realise that their casual support of AJ is the reason why this is on PPV in the first place. Fair play to Eddie for having the foresight to have Takam on stand by from the beginning. Warren would never have planned for that. Mind you, if I was Takam I would have power played Eddie and just asked for even more money, he had Eddie by the balls here. Can't argue with the quality of opponent two weeks out. If this was nearer to the December date, maybe my G David Deron Haye could have stepped in and polaxed AJ before heading back to London to depacitate Tony Bellew.
I don’t want to see Joshua fight Whyte again either. Joshua dealt with him easy enough the first time. I believe Takam is better than Whyte so let him have his shot as the next in line. Most people attending that fight won’t know who the hell Pulev is and it will be the same with Takam. Nothing has changed really.
It's one early KO for another early KO, what's the problem? If people thought they were signing up for another Wlad v Joshua fight they are very much mistaken.
This 'Takam on standby' is a load of sh*t if you ask me. Eddie isn't stupid, he knows he will get a stick for going ahead with Takam having a limited/no training camp. Therefore, they come up with some story that Takam has been training for a big fight as normal to justify it being a worthwhile bout. Is Takam a better opponent that Pulev, potentially yes. But its not a PPV with next to no camp.
I was just thinking of this now and I kind of agree. Because as soon as Brezeale rejected the Whyte fight, surely Eddie would have just turned to Takam?
Judging by the last couple of fights Takam has had (very small shows), he was probably getting paid a lot more just to train as a standby for this fight.
