Sounds like Sergey Lapin is saying Parker is next to me.

First off, I do not get those who are trying to say that Usyk is not interested in this fight. Asking for an extension DEFINITIONALLY means that he is. He isn't giving up the belt like he did the IBF, he is asking for more time.

Now, go to about 1235. The English is broken, but it sounds to me like Lapin is saying that Usyk has to defend that WBO belt, and Parker is next. He goes on to say that Ituama isn't ready (in so many words).

"...we need to speak to team, and next opponent is Parker, yes..."

    If Parker is next

they would have at least opened "pretend" negotiations during the 30 days

They had all the time in the world to do this

    Failed to do so

I wouldn't take that as Parker is next given the English as a second language (no disrespect - his English is better than my Ukrainian hahaha).

As KiA said above, if they were going to fight Parker they'd have come to the table. They didn't so...

I think they would like to defend against Parker, but not if the money isn't right and if Usyk isn't 100%. But I have to say that if that is the case why haven't they come to the table at all?

You can't say you want to fight someone and then not even start negotiations.

Well , like mentioned above usyk unfortunetly avoids parker is such a visible and obvious way we rarely see in boxing .

the extension request is just a desparate try to not get stripped immediately but delay it and keep on sitting on the belt.

Its also not about money .

A WBO title defence against parker would sell for top dollars , way more than lets say chisora or retired fury . In fact he avoids the two best paid fights : usyk-parker and usyk-kabayel , WBO and WBC world title defence fights .

Usyk could stop the speculation immediately : agree to parker , face and beat him for a top purse .

The biggest determinator of purse size is, for better or worse, whether Turki wants to see the fight. He doesn't want to see Usyk-Parker, which I really don't understand. That means to make the fight, you're back to normal funding sources like ticket sales, PPV sale, advertising buys, etc. Usyk is a draw on his own these days, absolutely, but he's a road warrior, so the other fighter needs to pull his own weight and be from a country that's bgi for boxing. That's why he's looking at Brits. Fury, AJ, and Chisora are big draws in the UK. Give any of those three a title shot? Any stadium you want in the UK is sold out, the bars are packed, the PPV buys are big.

If the US had a heavyweight worth a damn, that would be another option. But, [sighs in American], we don't. So if Usyk is looking at maximizing earnings, he either needs backing from Turki or to fight a Brit.

New Zealand is small. Germany isn't. You'd THINK Germans would go nuts to see Kabayel take a crack at Usyk, and that Kabayel would be a good funding option, but they don't seem to care. Guess boxing just isn't big there.

Apparently, Usyk does not want to return to the ring until February or March. The WBO probably won't wait that long.

Because Parker is a dreadful boxer and nobody cares about him. He lost to AJ, Whyte, Joyce. He has no career ahead.

Turki is interested in undefeated popular names and young prospects. Parker is neither of these.

After turki realized usyk will avoid parker whatever happens he does not need to try promoting the fight in riyadh only to present the world it failed . He is absolutely not to blame .

Of course usyk-parker and usyk-kabayel would make it to the main event in riyadh when both camps would show true efforts . And of course the purse in riyadh would be massive .

This is the right answer. He has consistently said he wants more time.

He can take all the time he wants but without the belts and the glory . He refused to defend his wbo title for 4 years . Enough .

Usyk is a great champion. He deserves two months of rest if he wants them.

There's nothing conclusive in that interview.

    'Next step'

    'Depending on next step'

He even went as far as suggesting Itauma fight Parker next.
