Sounds to me like Vitali and Sdunek have one of two scenarios in mind regarding threatening to dump his prized WBC title if the WBC/Suliaman won’t allow him to fight Haye next:

1.......He’s got Suliman by the balls and thinks the WBC will agree to having Gomez put aside for now, as Vitali and Sdunek knows the WBC title will mean squat, if taken from Vitali and given to the Gomez Joe Schmoe winner.

    2. ..........Vitali is looking to retire after his big payday with Haye, and don’t really care if his last big fight, a presumed megafight, is for a title, or not, as it'll be his last hurrah.

Question:Why doesn't Vitali go with Steward himself?

i think that now that Vitali and Wlad have been world champions at the same time, the next step is for Wlad to be undisputed champion. Expect Wlad to unify the title against Gomez who will be given the belt by default and then a mega showdown between Wlad and Valuev. Vitali will fight Haye and then step back a little.

I think the big question at this point is really... now that the brothers Klitschko have fulfilled their mutual title-holding dream are they done holding the Heavyweight Division hostage by never allowing the titles to be unified. Would Vitali allow his title to slip to set up a W.K. - J.C.G. unification fight?

Vitali only has one thing on his mind; Pain. The only thing on sdunek's mind regarding Vitali is Fear, just like everyone else around Vitali.

If Haye and Vitali have a mega fight to find out who is the better man = WBC worth a lot.......and would be seen as the most highly esteemed of the titles.

If Gomez Joe Shmoe winner is given it = WBC title won't be worth squat.

I think Suliamna is reasonable enough to see this, and allow Haye Vitali to go ahead, and Gomez made wait for the winner. At least, I hope.

    Gomez won TWO eleminators.

The WBC gave Vitali hundred years and seventy chances to appear to a fight.

If Gomez has to wait another year or even fight another challenger for the #1 ranking, the WBC would prove to be worse than the WBO.

I hope Öner/Gomez would sue the WBC, just like Rocky did.

Suliaman and Vitali have a great relationship. Look how the WBC has bended over backwards for Vitali over the years even after all of the cancellations etc. A Vitali vs Haye fight is a big money fight. Something tells me the WBC will allow the fight and some step aside money will be given to Gomez to wait and face the winner.

Quick answer: Haye would have a decent chance of beating Wlad because of his egg chin, but would have little chance of beating Vitali because of Haye's egg chin. Thus, Vitali wants to take out Haye, so it's easier for his brother to become undisputed eventually. It will be a while before Wladimir will get the third belt unified anyway, and if they let him keep the belt, then he can also beat the next in line, Juan Carlos Gomez, who's much more of a threat to Wlad than the next four guys in that line (Arreola, Dimitrenko, Peter and Maskaev).

Vitali is a lot smarter of a fighter than Wlad and doesn't require the "special" training Steward provides -- ie: How to not punch yourself out, how to pace yourself, how to not panic and fold when hit, how to hold after throwing a few jabs, and most of all -- how to fight like you have a raw egg for a head.
