I didn't think this would do good numbers myself. GGG is a hardcore
fans fighter only because of where he comes from. If he is in the ring
with Cotto or Canelo next year, and that's if either prima mans up,
then that card could do minimum 750k-1M buys easily. Latinos and
then blacks are the main base of PPV sales in this country and GGG
is neither. Keep in mind GGG is the 1st ever fighter from the former
USSR to headline a PPV. Wlad has never done it.
On a side note, neither has Ward:D

Wlad, as I understand it, had ample opportunities to headlines, and actually sat out a few times because he didn't want fans to have to pay extra to see him. Wlad wanted his fights to be on regular HBO. At least 1 (and I think 2 times) HBO's budget was blown towards the end of the year, and Wlad chose not to fight on PPV when HBO couldn't make the numbers otherwise work.

These aren't sources, just rumors. Typically though the rumors are in the ballpark.

It is a shame how in this land of equality and opportunity someone like GGG has to suffer economically because of his passport and ethnicity. If GGG were exactly the same fighter only African American or Latino he would have already gotten every big fight he wanted while earning outrageous money.

When has Cotto drawn big PPV numbers that didn't involve Mayweather or Pacquiao?

Yeah, they do seem to be in the ballpark usually.

Although, if I recall, early rumors for Floyd-Pac were 5.5 million, which wound up being about 1.1 million less, and early rumors for Floyd-Berto were around 450,000, and I believe that wound up being less. Although I confess, my memory might be off on all of those numbers I mentioned.

Damn, I'm honestly surprised. I thought it would do at least 300k buys

I went to 3 bars that Saturday and 2 of them were playing a baseball game while the other one was just running the fight in the background with nobody paying attention to it besides me and friends.

Bummyluvkin is stuck in a very awkward situation now.
