does anybody have or know where I could find any training/sparring/boxing match videos from any good southpaw fighters. I am a southpaw myself and I cant really find anything. It would be much appreciated if i could get some help.

Pacquiao is one of the best attacking southpaws...
Hagler was one of the best power based southpaws...
Sweet Pea is one of the best defensive southpaws...
Calzaghe is one of the best 'boxing' southpaws IMHO...

    Look these boys up:

    1 Pernell Whitaker
    2 Marvin Hagler
    3 Tiger Flowers
    4 Manny Pac
    5 Joe Calzaghe
    6 Winky Wright
    7 Michael Nunn/Antonio Tarver
    8 Hector Camacho
    9 Michael Moorer/Chris Bryd
    10 Joel Casamoyo

I'm orthodox, but am trying to become a southpaw for a while to encourage use of my right hand as I seem to use it just about... 0 times per fight ;) So I was sparring two rounds as a south paw out of about nine rounds.

It actually did help... because you get used to using the right hand as a jab hand, you teach your mind to use it more actively. Obviously I don't box, I fight Muaythai so we do actually switch our stance as a tactic (kicks, etc), so it has worked quite well for me.

I'll soon be coming out southpaw and switching back - forth till I end up confusing the **** outta people!!! ;) Soon as I'm well enough to head back up the gym ;)

I am very defensive and I like to fight on the inside.

Sweet Pea would be perfect for you to watch

Pernell Whittaker was amazin at the inside work and defence also Winky Wright would be pretty decent for you as he had an impregnable defence but a different type of defence to Pea.

Casamoyer would be good to watch for the inside as hes pretty cute and also you can learn afew dirty tricks

also watch some Marvin hagler as he was a master at taking away an opponents jab which could help you alot to get inside

some of the stuff Calzaghe does up close is pretty good so you can watch some of him

i wouldnt really watch pacquiao as he is pretty unique and dosent have the best fundamentals so i advise not to try and copy him

if you want some footage drop me an email at
    This content is protected
and i can make you up a disk of good southpaws

    also Aplin

watch some Ingle fighters to perfect switchhitting also hagler is a pretty good example of switch hitting
