I feel more footspeed and power as an orthodox, thats because thats how i started and Im a naturally right handed.

But as a southpaw, I feel more comfortable, more relaxed, more range and speed on my punches, ability to punch from angles, center of gravity is where it should be.

    What should I do?

    Train doing both?
    Or pick one?

    Let me know.

    Thanks.

orthodox because i'm guessing if your just starting like most people you feel better with your dominant hand in front. I think you should also ask your trainer so he can let you know if your really any faster. Your also probably feel faster as southpaw because you are mainly throwing stuff with your dominant hand i.e jabs right hooks if so its just because that hand is probably faster for you at least untrained. Your range should be the same no matter what.

Both. Trainers shy away from teaching southpaw because they don't have a clue about it.

  5. If you're right handed my opinion is not to work against that because you'll probably hit a platau, meanwhile getting owned by the real left handers.

Though if you're comfortable with both, thats a good advantage for someone starting out.

It makes hardly any difference. You use practically the same muscles for a left hook and a left cross.

Yeah that's the thing though, alot of right handers try to fight southpaw because they have no left hand. I think a right hand dominant person would find their left hand would improve more by fighting orthodox. A good fighter should be just as good with either hand in the end, a fighter starting out should be spending more time on their weaker hand.

My left hook my best punch and I'm right handed as well. Right hand has been improving greatly the past few months though. It's all in the technique.

i'm a natural lefty and i feel comfortable circling, slipping, jabbing, and using my left as a southpaw, but i'm not too comfortable punching in combination as i do as a righty. go with what works best for you.
