Not a good as Young Corbett III? Hmmm... I'll have to think on that one. KG record is fantastic, as is the manner he destroyed so many opponents.
Watanabe was the superior Jr. Bantam southpaw, in my opinion. At his best I'd have favored him over Galaxy. His brother was at least as good as well.
I will admit I am biased because Galaxy was of my time. And upon further thought I guess I have a hard time ranking him above Corbett III.
Nope. YCIII has a few hurtful losses but he has some really great victories: Walker, Conn, Apostoli, Lesnevich, Jack Thompson, Fields.... Nothing even close to those on Khaosai's scalp wall IMO. Watanabe almost made this list based on looking good doing his thing, but I couldn't justify it.
Switch-hitter. He was also reknowned at the time for being a rather inconsistent performer. Great one day, sluggish the next. Got the job done even on the off days, though. The scant footage available probably doesn't do him much justice.
Certainly it doesn't. It sure would be nice to see some footage of him fighting southie though. I have his title winning effort with Fields.
