i'm a southpaw and i've often heard that orthodoxes hate fighting us. i was wondering if someone could give me advice on how to exploit the weak points of orthodoxes when fighting southpaws and what tactics orthodoxes will use when fighting us.
i usually paw my left hand or im jabbing with it, a southpaw could exploit that with his right hook. just dont let the othodox guy jab, keep him blocking busy with your own right hand hooks and jabs etc
keep your lead foot on the outside of his lead foot. and watch the straight right and uppercut southpaw always get caught by these.
Never square up. As was said before keep your lead foot on the outside of his lead foot. If you are running out of ring get good at backing out of range then moving left. Pacquiao is very good at this. For punch selection develop your right. Jab is never going to be a great unless you are tall and long but the hook is deadly. If you are lucky enough to be tall and long watch Whitaker. Oh and throw the straight left down the pipe frequently and often. As for fighting a southpaw, same movement just opposite, pound the liver and throw the right.
Personally I always liked boxing southpaws there pudding for left hook to body and right to the head. But for the orthodox probably right hook to head and straight back hand to the body, then step back and back in with left/right to the head.
