I am so its a bit of a blessing and curse. Curse cause my head coach sometimes there are some drills he does with the group but since i have to do them differently we take a little longer and somtimes i feel bad for the group since they have to wait for me. Blessing cus the assistant coach is basically my own personal coach since she works practically the whole time with me only since she has experience with southpaws and i also like sparring with the more experienced guys and newer guys and help them get used to fighting lefties. What about you guys?
How is your luck finding other southpaws to spar against? Lefties are never short of finding sparring partners.
at first it was weird specially since im used to circling to my right but against another lefty i would be moving into to his left hand but i got comfortable quite fast but other than that i didnt feel it was more difficult
ya i am. its a small gym so its cool. i always have the mentality of seeing pacquiao (a southpaw fighter) fight and wanting to do the same, so it really pushes me when i know that i'm also a southpaw because i know he is also.
boxinglad are you the only one in the gym and does your trainer have to teach you separate things as well?
I'm the only southpaw in the gym yea (well there are a couple who have come and left after a few weeks), I've only been boxing two years and really work on the basics alot, and to be honest, the main thing I change is my movement, for obvious reasons but my training is pretty much the same as everyone elses. As I progress further in the years to come I'm sure that we will have some much more advanced techniques but so far it has just been the basics and a few other bits and pieces added over time.
I'm the only southpaw in the area that I know of, but I'm switching to orthodox since I'm actually right handed... which feels weird as ****
