T. Stout- None of these Soviets will ever be in an ATG Heavyweight list, the top 10 will remain filled with americans because we are a dominant nation. Im sorry, but there is no Heavyweight fighter now that will ever see the top 10 or top 20 for that matter, on a ATG Heavyweight list, I think we both know that.
Not according to Manny Steward but of course you are more qualified then he is. I don't see anyone beating Wlad in the next few years I think we both know that too.
And I was saying that Brits are biased. Here we see an example of an American unable to deal with Euro-Asian supremacy.
The thread was bias, I was just giving a little back to the poster that made this thread. Everything I said in the post is pretty factual, if you dont agree then enlighten me.
The thread was not about ATG status of fighters. It was about the current situation in HW division. You obviously tried to side track it with your what-has-been comment. As things are right now US HW scene ain't ****. Deal.
Soviet bloc fighters keep on kicking ass and taking names:deal :good:good:goodRIGHT ON:hi: Who is the best American Heavy right now:huh does it even matter???
the only elite fighter at hw is wladimir klitschko. he is the only one dominating the competition. the rest are just pretty good or have a lot to prove. imo chagaev took a big hit with his recent stinker.
. I think these X -Soviets have won something like 14 of their last 15 heavyweight title fights vs all other nations. This is not a fluke or a fad. ItÂ’s a complete shift in geographic power. It's gotten to the point where the confidence of the USA, British, or other nations seems to be low going into the match.
An articel I read recently claims that the reason is that Afro-Americans overall have finally become too affluent (relatively) to produce a large number of hungry big men willing to go thru the monastic grind to make it to the top, the big men with athleticism prefer to go for sports like football and basketball now.
Yeah, I hate to see that, too. I had Chag at number two, overall, then he has what was apparently a lackluster performance against the 40 year old Skelton. But maybe it was due to his (hack, cough) stomach ailment he supposedly had, and he'll be back on track next fight. :good
Except football and basketball have been around for the last hundred years. That option has always been there but the option of fighting Soviet block fighters has only been available for last decade.
The Heavyweight division goes in cycles, like I already stated in a earlier post, a little over 2 years ago it was all american champs, Ruiz, Bryd, Rahman, Brewster, I really dont see the Soviet dominance as the thread starter suggested. Guys like Chambers and especially might end up being champs before years end, maybe even Ruiz or Mccline if they get another title shot, I wouldnt even be surprised to see all American Heavyweights a couple years from now, thats just how boxing works.
And that's because when they are FULLY grown they decide what sport they want to play.Hey im BIG so i should play Basketball or Football.Sorry but the Shaq's Kobe's Strahan's and Lewis' of the World have been playing there respective sports since they were kids. How in the hell would they know how big or tall they would end.Fighters are usually born fighters. The fact of the matter is that the US still has the most active HW's per capita.
I guess that since the times russian Alexander Zolkin ( resident in Ohio) fought Mike Hunter for the USBA title and Tony Tubbs for the NABF title, most of these eastern european fighters call themselves russian-american citizens... Oleg Maskaev pointed that out with special emphasis after stopping Rahman for the WBC HWT Title and Serguei Liakhovich was not very far from that, but people still believe that they come to the american shores to fight for their countries. Promotions with names such as "The Russian Invasion" is not helping us either.
