Seriously, **** this sport. They couldn't throw me this one bone?

With Fury-Usyk possibly never getting made as Fury pursues bar fighters, Crawford-Spence come and gone and a major disappointment, Joshua-Wilder stuck in more talking, Lomachenko getting robbed, Beterbiev-Bivol in limbo, they couldn't give me this one little glimmer of hope?

Instead Opetaia will probably be fighting someone named Ellie Scotney.

Really, it is like they are trying to lose the last of their fans.

I can't really blame Opetaia for taking a tune up after being out with a broken jaw

Opetaia's previous two mandatories, Masternak and Riakporhe, both chickened out. Wasting a whole lot of everybody's time and energy.

Their first fight was over a year ago and Briedis is probably as keen to have a warm up fight as Opetaia is.

Just read Briedis is injured. Assuming that is correct, there was no chance the rematch was happening next.

Before throwing all the toys out of the cot it pays to do a bit of research ;)

No, Opetaia and Briedis have agreed a deal so there will be no purse bids. Since Briedis is recovering from injury, they have agreed to allow Opetaia to fight Jordan Thompson on September 30 live on DAZN in London / Manchester. If Opetaia wins, then Opetaia will face Briedis next year in Australia.

Opetaia vs Thompson is a good fight.

Noticed that about you way before then

Next time you make a thread do at least a quick check of the facts before making an absolute clown of yourself :D

**** off. I don't take orders from idiots. With the delays between fights these days, it would have been better for them to wait until Briedis is ready. This is a meaningless fight.

Coming back from a badly broken jaw would be most boxer's worst nightmare. Assuming Opetaia is fully recovered, both physically and mentally, I don't see Thompson giving him too much trouble. But Opetaia may well be tentative and ring rusty for a few rounds.
