Hi, i sparred after along time yesterday. i thought i would do great yesterday as everything was in place in my mind. as soon as the sparring started i became lost. i was flinching alot but still blocked most of the punches.

my main problem was fighting at long range, i had lost my sense of timing and distance so this made me reluctant to go in with punches. i wasnt even confident blocking the jab as he was varying the speed and power of it and getting through.

however as we did a drill where we stay on the inside, i felt at home. blocking shot, countering, rolling under hooks, rolling with the shots (but still abit rusty) as if i hadnt been away.

Now, question is, is this normal. i F E L T like a beginner which i am not

apart from my inside fighting which i was pleased with, i felt like s h i t; didnt know or couldnt get inclose. it just seemed too difficult.

Timing is the first thing to go when I take time off sparring. Sense of range as well. They're the two things you pretty much can't work on anywhere else but live sparring, and they're the things that need constant polishing and improvement.
