He was probably dropping his hands because he was tired. He's obviously going full power aswell so don't be afraid of letting him have a few heavy shots. Use a stiff jab and keep on your toes. If he gets too close just tie him up.

Thanks, he has been going for 5 months more than me, and was wearing lighter gloves.

To be honest, i don't think it was completly because he was tired, its just something he likes to do. He likes to do all these hamed things, its quite funny actually :L

Yeah, i hate my footwork in this, im so flat footed in this and im moving one foot at a time, i've decided that im going to do more footwork drills and more leg exercises in training.

I think you did fine buddy. In fact, it turned into a brawl at the 1 min mark of the 2nd round. Why? It's because you were bothering and frusterating him with the jab. So he lunged in and brawled wildly. You threw a few back, but for 3 months, you did good. He did what I would have done... not showboat, but jump in and negate that reach.

I would take it as a compliment. He did it because you were controlling distance. Try not to be so flat footed!! Learn the pull or step back, and USE THE DAMN UPPERCUT! This guy is a sucker for it. Jab, jab, step back.. let him come in... right uppercut left hook and step off!

How can you be 5"11 and 58kg? haha

Yeah you did the right thing when he went nuts, jsut covered up didn't take too mch damage. You could have torn him up with uppercuts when he came at you but it looks like he was a bit more experienced than you so can hardly blame you?

There's a couple guys like that at my gym, they try to bully people in sparring. Always giving newbies broken noses. ****s

I have always been really light, now it appears to work in my favor. Reach advantage = pretty good :p

I have sparred him a couple times before, he doesn't usually get so mad so he isn't really a bully in sparring :p

    Thank's for the feedback.

He gets frustrated because I push him too hard in sparring. He just needs some more confidence.

Try and keep on your toes a little more. You look a little off balance when you lunge in. Try taking small steps in and hiding behind that jab if you cannt get your balance together. Stiffen that jab up a bit too.

Practice makes perfect , keep up the good work.

I love the double right hand. That's gonna be money for you as a tall guy.

Your right hand is good. I like the way you loop it. A lot of beginners are afraid to do anything but a normal straight right. You look like you get your shoulders into the punch and it has good power. Very important for a tall guy to have respectable power.

Your jab needs to be used more though. And it needs more snap. That'll come as you get used to finding range. You'll get better at controlling the guy if you prod at him with your jab. Just paw with it, put it out there, sometimes snap it out there, sometimes feint it, sometimes put it into the body. DOUBLE-****ING-JAB. Hahah seriously though, you really disrupted him with that jab. If it lands once, it'll land twice. Watch Wlad Klitschko for some ideas with that jab. Just play around with it, use that height.

Uppercuts. Use em. There were a few times when you landed a nice right hook and could have followed it with a left uppercut and another right. Remember, you hit him once you can hit him twice. Try throwing a right hook-right uppercut. It's the same as a double right, only it lands more and ****ing WORKS.

Your guard is not the best. I would extend the left hand a bit instead of doing a peekaboo. If you want to use a high guard (and you'll have to at times) look THROUGH your gloves, not over them. Put your thumbs on your temples. Watch Mayweather for a good example.

For three/four months, you look damn good for sure. That guy sucked, by the way. You can tell a person sucks when they use that weird head movement when they're ten feet out of range. Use feints to off-balance him, then nail him. Learn how to leap in with your right hand.

And the reason he tried to go beast mode on you was because he didn't even touch you in the first round. You did a good job of covering up, but you didn't counter him. It's not easy to do, but force yourself to walk into him when he goes crazy. That alone takes a lot off his punches. The closer to a wild swinger you can get, the safer you'll be. And try to counter him to the body. Nothing stops a person from swinging for the fences like a couple of broken ribs ;)

Once he starts obviously trying to take your head off, all bets are off and you aren't responsible for what you do to him. Teach him that he's safer when he isn't going nuts, because in reality, that's how it is. He tries that against someone who's really good and he'll be collapsed in a heap before he knows what happened. So when he opens up, that's your cue to really put it on him.

Sorry for the long post, I'm a tall skinny guy like you and I like to see guys like us whooping dudes :)

    5'11 and 125-130 lb :p

You said something about a right hook right uppercut body, surely that would leave me open for a horrible left hook?

You'll grow into it, my brother is 6'3 and was always 135, now he's 20 and working his way up to 160. I was 145 all the way through high school.

Both shots to the head. It's the same as the double right hand you're doing now, but the second one is and uppercut. Right hook to the head, right uppercut to the head. Or you can reverse it. Right uppercut, overhand right. Lots of ways to double up, variety's the key.
