Hey guys, here is a video of me doing some light sparring working on my footwork and a tried to adjust my guard a little. Give me your opinion on my balance/movement etc.

I am interested in if what my coach tells me (who rarely works with me) if the same what you guys see.

you rushed your straight right and it became a weird hooking right straight arm punch. Your hands would go down sometimes after a punch.

I can critique you because i make the same mistakes in sparring except much worse :|

Pretty good mate, good variety and fairly sound movement. Your defence is non existent and you are lucky you are sparring a novice as anyone who can mount an offence against you will pick you apart for now.

I'd make that the next thing you pay more attention to. Your punching technique and footwork are sound enough at the moment for where your up to. How long you been boxing?

Yeah I agree. The guy I was working just held a high guard to see how I could lead and move.

I'm trying to use my feet a tad more for defense (hence the video). Since before I move rarely move my head and get tagged.

I am a novice. Been training on and off for a couple of years.

    Thanks for the advice Bomber!

Your punching form isn't as tight as it could be. Your balance and footwork isn't bad for a beginner, no glaring flaws, but you seem to arm punch a lot and drop your guard very often after throwing. Make sure one hand comes back when throwing the other. We can all get lazy and careless when sparring lightly against a non-threat, and I've done it too, but these are how bad habits form.
