I work as a sparring partner from time to time with pretty good heavyweight fighters. I am often told by their trainers to concentrate on certain combinations, etc. I fancy myself a mover and I've been told to stand still and fight flat footed. I was in camp with someone recently and was being instructed by the other fighters corner exactly what to do. The trainer told me to come out and throw a 1-2-1-2 right off the bat. I did and got tagged straight away. I would never have done that otherwise. I did not protest in the least because they were paying very well. The point is that the sparring had no bearing on what a real fight would look like.
