I'd like to see Foreman sparring Cleveland Williams. I asked George about footage of his sparring with Liston. He replied and said 'Yes, there's footage floating around somewhere'
Grey, the Quarry v Norton sessions was the first I thought of as well. Also: Mando Ramos v Raul Rojas Mando Ramos v Rodolfo Gonzalez Rodolfo Gonzalez v Dwight Hawkins Rodolfo Gonzalez v Jimmy Heair Bobby Chacon v Art Hafey Curtis Parker v Bennie Briscoe Curtis Parker v Michael Spinks Pipino Cuevas v Tony Ayala George Foreman v Cleveland Williams Cleveland Williams v Bob Baker Ismael Laguna v Roberto Duran
Lennox Lewis vs Tony Tubbs Legend has it they had some high level educated sessions that made Lewis a better smarter fighter. Tony could box, his jab and ring IQ would make for an awesome sparring partner. Bobby Chacon vs Young Tony Lopez. As Tony came of age that hard won experience showed. You could see some Chacon in him. This content is protected 16 year old Mike Tyson vs Jimmy Clark who was already pro.
I'd love to see Ruhlin vs Ed Martin and Gunboat Smith vs Bob Armstrong sparing films, because I know they exist but I can't find them anywhere...
Good thread my man, I have always thought and seen, that sparring is some times no, always gives more action than most fights, if you haven't caught Froch/Eubanks jnr please do, one of the fiercest spars you will see, abtw Eubanks equites himself very well.
SRL apparently had 12 round unofficial fights with judges behind closed doors to prepare himself for Hagler. I believe I read somewhere that Quincy Taylor was one of the “opponents”. Thatd be interesting to see if true.
