Out of interest, has anybody got any examples of boxers sparring each other in the build up to them fighting each other? Obviously former sparring partners have fought each other - Bute / Johnson is a current example. If it has happened, was the resulting fight made better or worse for it?
Fighters sparring eachother as prep to fight eachother i can only see if one was used as a sparring partner for another opponent then stepped in to replace that fighter otherwise it would be crazy idea and i don't think it would make for a good fight most of time.
I think Modest is talking about fighters actually sparring one another for a fight against each other. Not sparring each other a year before then being matched against each other. Maybe i've got wrong end of stick..
i know of it happening a lot in national amateur level, i doubt its common in the pro's maybe when guys could be sparring then one guys opponent pulls out and the sparring partner used as the replacement otherwise it wont happen 99% of the time
