I really hate where i live. There are no good boxing gyms around so i dont have any good sparring partners. When i spar people they are much bigger and older than me and i just make them look silly, they only land like 3 shots out of like(my best aspect is my head movement for real). I only get to spar like 1 every 3 or 4 weeks. But on friday I went to this boxing gym wit my coach which is really good, they have a welter going to nationals. It took like two hours to get there. I boxed this guy who was 130 too and novice too, i found he was very fast. But he did not have good conditioning. Well you know what im going to get to the point haha, is there a way to gain some fighting experience without sparring, because i have a fight on the 30th thanks!
I hear ya brother. I haven't gotten a lot of sparring in lately either due to a lack of sparring partners as of late. Nothing will give you fighting experience, but what you can do is study fights religiously, trying new things out when shadowboxing, and work diligently on the double-end bag if you have one. That is the best substitute for real fight experience and that's not saying much.
Maybe try and get actual fights more regularly, only thing other than sparing that will give you actual experience against a human opponent.
If you can't find anybody at the gym with your level of expertise, then find a few buddies who love to throw on the gloves and swap some punches and practice on a regular basis. You can also work on a heavy or double end bag to hone your punching skills.
What would be the point of this? If the guys at his boxing gym aren't good enough why would his friends be better opponents in the back yard? That wouldn't get him ready for a match like he's asking.
Sounds weird. If you have a fight coming up, you have a coach, right? If you have a coach, why would he have a kid fight if he ain't sparring? Maybe you are so good you don't need it.
Yea my friends arent good at boxing at all. They cant hit me. But I guess that I have to Make use of everything. Yea I have big dreams in boxing haha. Yea twelve, ive been studying some pernell whitaker.
Sparring is essential. If you don't put time in the ring, you'll never be ready to fight. Anything else just doesn't come close. If you can't find decent sparring partners within your own gym, ask your trainer if he could bring in guys from other gyms as well. I'm sure other gyms would welcome the chance to test their guys also.
