yeh i've been hurt n somewhat ko'd sparring one time.... I was only bout 15 years old 54kg at the time and was doing some work with a bloke almost twice my size at 81kg and few inches taller plus more experienced plus he was a full grown man.... we were only ment to be takin it steady due to the size advantage but i dont know maybe he had a **** day at work or something and needed to take his anger out on something and unfortunately it was me. despite numerous calls from my trainer tellin the bloke i was sparring to ease up i ended up gettin my nose bloodied and pushed around etc n while i was in the corner got hit just on the bottom part of the ribs on my right side of the body. felt like i was hit by a sledge hammer. ended up buckling over and fallin into the ropes then to my knees at which point my trainer ended the session, wiped the blood of my face made sure i was ok and then sent the bloke home told him to come back when he could control himself in the ring. so i guess that was a knock out coz i wouldnt have been able to get up before a 10 count that time....
Last week once.. Got punched in the Eye. I crashed down.. Bad day however a good learning, I consider it.. Once, few months back.. But got up before the count could end..
In my case, count is an assumption.. When you are crashing down and staying down and some one brings you water - means the count is already over.. Com'on man!!
I've never been ko'd even when I sparred a 6'2 beast I was 15 at the time just used footwork and a high guard.
never been ko'd sparring. ive been known to take a pretty good shot here and there. conditioning help alot in not being ko'd and technique cements everything if you dont wanna be ko'd condition yourself and work on technique. if you dont wanna be knocked down, condition yourself and definitely work on technique
About a year and a half ago when I was 14 I got dropped with a body shot from some guy who was abit older/heavier. I learned the lesson and paid more attention to my core.
In last summer training camp, pro who I was sparring dropped me with a body shot. I managed to rise up and continue remaining 10-20 seconds of that round. I rested couple of rounds after that thought. But I don’t think it would have happened, if I wouldn’t been so out of gas because our camps training schedule.
I've never been KO'ed and I've never KO'ed someone in sparring. If I see someone hurt, I immediately stop. Sparring is not there for hurting people for the sake of hurting people. If you meant knockdowns, well that's a different story.
