Yep, this. I've never been knocked out or even down in sparring due to shots to the head. Been dropped a couple of times from body shots, though.
I took hit today to the solar plexus from a guy that was a weight class above me. I had to take a knee (Read: I crumbled into a messy heap on the floor) and I had to leave the ring to get my breathing back in check. I've never KO'd another guy in the ring, but that's mostly because if I see a wobble or dazed eyes after a good contact, I back off.
If people are getting KNOCKED OUT in sparring, the coach is not doing his job. That usually happens when there are unsupervised brawls, guys being matched improperly, or using 12 oz gloves.
I've never been been KOed or 'rocked' at least not by a punch to the head. I've taken a few good body shots though.
no never, had to stop once due to bodyshot. i was stuck in a corner and froze so the guy unloaded on me. he had 15 fights I had 0. learned alot from it.
Once, I was sparring with a heavyweight and I was about 135 at the time, and moved with my right arm away from the body and walked into a hard left hook to the liver region and I hit the deck like someone had cut my legs off.
depends on the HW's reach and height. EVen a tall middleweight will give hell to me as a lightweight. But some 200 lb guys are slow, easy to hit, etc especially when they're the same height as you.
