People cite Holmes and Foreman being extremely competitive and even successful in decades removed from their best eras, but what about two other 70's HW's in Ron Lyle and Earnier Shavers?

15 years after being KO'ed by Gerry Cooney Ron Lyle came back at the age of 54 and within four months, had four fights.

He won all four of them by KO.

Earnie Shavers fought consistently until he was almost 40 and stayed competitve the entire time, including some good wins.

    Thoughts?

Shavers came back again in the mid-90s and was KO'd by a nobody.

Lyle and Shavers were even older than Holmes and Foreman and never as good, so they couldn't have been expected to do much.
Still, I've seen pics of both of these guys at around 60 years of age and I'd still be hesistant to put a young fighter in the ring with those guys. Lyle's a monster, and Shavers is still in shape and those hands will be heavy and hurtful until the day he dies.

Yeah, he came back when he was 50 years old, so it's more than a little understandable.
