After the statements made refering to Holmes fighting Tyson, that Holmes heard about it one week before it happened or had only one month to train, etc. All the Bill history revisionism ended when i watched Tyson vs Biggs, with a Holmes interview after it.

For clarity, Tyson fought Biggs in October 1987. So this interview was conducted three months before Tyson fought Holmes.

Here is a link to the interview that i put online:

In case you don't want to watch or can't, here are some things he said that oblitarate Bill's statements. Because i had to repeat all my arguments about 4 times before they sunk in, in the past, i made the relevant statements clearer to read.

And for Bill's statement "Holmes was only in there with Tyson for the paycheck, he didn't really want to win, just money:

Holmes came out of retirement for the money during the early 90's, as his business ventures were not doing as well as expected at the time. Maybe Bill is getting confused. Holmes came out of retirement to accept the challenge of fighting the new kid on the block, combined with the purse. He never needed the money, but no question the $3 million was part of the reason he decided to fight Tyson.

Yep. I've already told Bill that the Holmes fight was being talked about the day after the Tucker borefest, as Tyson't next contest after Biggs but his goldfish span memory obviously forgot about it three seconds later. :good

Have any of us read Lerry Holmes: Against the Odds? It's Holmes' life story & is a great read. Larry himself gives a good insight on the Tyson fight.

Holmes states he never came back just for the money, he was already rich & owned a great deal of Easton, had Larry Holmes' enterprizes etc. However, the $3M played a part.

Larry is man eniugh to admit in the book that when it came time to walk to the ring to face Tyson, he didn't want to go. He said he realised at that moment that he had tried to annoy, upset Tyson with some trash talk in the build-up & that he knew Tyson, a young, hungry fighter at the time, was coming for him.

Larry tells it like it is in the book & for those who haven't read it, I would highly recommend it.

It's a very good book. That still doesn't stop him from his half-truths concerning some issues, e.g. The Tyson fight, the Mallard Years.

I don't think that any book, documenatary or even testimony from Jesus Christ all mighty himself could have explained some of Holmes' choices for title defenses. I would have taken every participant sitting at the table in the last supper over Cobb, Rodriguez, Zanon, Evangelista, Bey, L. Spinks or Ledoux.

C´mon guys, don´t be too hard on him, he´s only 13 years old. He trains at his gym, it´s no wonder that he defends him in every single thing.

An early education is a good one. Personally i think he is treated quite well in here considering some of his statements. The good old ESB Classic section can always be counted on for it's soft and patient nurturing....

Well, certainly compared to other places

    Agreed,

As much as I appreciate Chris Pointius's insights on a lot of issues, I think that he spends too much of his time trying to change Bill's views. As you already said, he's 13 years old and knows Holmes personally ( at least he says ), It's obvious why he's such a fan of him, and at times, is easily misled by certain half truths.

I say leave the kid alone and move on.
