Taylor is proven to drop his activitiy in every fight not just Hopkins.
His stamina is questionable which is why he's gotten ktfo in a few of his fights.
Hopkins being the conservative "I'm not getting hit under any circumstance fighter" he did zero against Taylor while Taylor was fresh, sharp, and fast.
Hopkins does'nt begin to throw punches until he senses Taylor start to drag his punches.
Against speed, Hopkins was'nt secure to test his skillset.
So insecure was Hopkins he basically gave away the first 5 or 6 rounds in each of his fights with Taylor.
I dont care who you are, you cant expect to give away that many rounds and not think your opponent cant scratch 2 or 3 additional rounds in the second half of the fight even with his speed and sharpness diminished.

The Calzaghe fight proved once again Hopkins skill could'nt compensate for the speed of Cal.

Hopkins is 10X more skilled than is Roy Jones.
Jones speed dominated the skillset of Hopkins at 160 lbs, like nobody has ever done.

It does'nt always translate, but speed can many times diffuse skill. There are many examples of it just with Hopkins alone.

Faster and stronger than Cotto, not nearly as fast as Mayweather.

Everybody in this forum who thought Canelo stood a chance said it would have to be by pushing the fight and pressuring Mayweather.
He did'nt go that. He did'nt pressure Mayweather and when he did he found some success.

Khan would be the opposite. He'd actually have to fight the same type of fight that Canelo did vs Mayweather. Stay center ring, use the jab and flurry with speed.

When Canelo tried to flurry with speed he was deciphered by Mayweather because his speed is much slower than is Mayweather's.
This is'nt the case with Khan. Deciphering Khan's incoming with the speed they're delivered is alot more complicated than the slower punches Canelo delivers.

Canelo had to pressure and did'nt. Khan has to keep it at distance and see if his speed can complicate things for Mayweather.

The mental midget Zab Judah had sucess with his speed and quickness vs Mayweather, it would'nt suprise me one bit that Khan can have even better sucess.

Again clowns, nobody here is saying Khan beats Mayweather.
Whats being said is that it would be interesting to see for a change if and how Mayweather can handle a fighter faster than he is as good as he can a fighter stonger and more powerful than he is.

If we've seen how easily Mayweather handles strenghth and power, why want to see that again?

Bring in a faster fighter than Mayweather is and lets see him beat all types of styles and not just one type of a fighter.

Skill means alot in a boxing match, but so does size, strenghth, quickness, speed, and physicality.

The most skilled fighter does'nt always win a boxing match.
When you have the right mix of physical ingredients of an opponent, time and again history has proven it can catch up to skill.

I just think Khan don't have the discipline, focus or the skills to keep a flawles game plan for 12 rounds.

    You're likely right.

I'd be happy to see Khan carry a gameplan out for just a few rounds and witness what Mayweather does vs speed better than his.

khan is a great offensive fighter, which is what troubles mayweather. too bad khan has a horrendous glass jaw and would likely get caught by a mayweather jab, thus ending the fight.

Like Mosley Khan a "twitchy" type of fighter, easily as fast as Floyd and very fast feet, a great combination. Unlike Mosley, very questionable chin. Khan is so, so very effective with his bodyshots his trainers should get slapped for not making more use of such a great weapon. Khan really would be a much better fighter if he landed more of those shots that folded Maidana, as long as he doesn't stay in the pocket too long cuz that is he weakest point. Fight off the jab, right hand high next to his ear, and move in and out ripping the body. He seems to struggle less with speedy boxer/punchers or technicians than with come forward pressure fighters tho. Khan will have his moments against Floyd if Khan still has the same speed in his prime cuz since he left Roach he is noticeably slower.

Mayweather only Ko's guys when they aren't looking(Ortiz) or when they dive into a hook then the ringpost(Hatton). Khan vs Mayweather would be a nice change. Enough watching Floyd fight these robots.

Khan has some serious speed, faster than Void, and with much more power, but he needs a trainer who can teach him better defense. Khan can beat a lot of fighters on any given night.

Ok, so lets say that Khan's Hand speed is better than Mayweather's. He is not as accurate, and he is facing the best defensive fighter. Let's say that Khan's speed of foot is faster than Mayweather's, but it's not great foot work. I don't see Khan really using his foot speed to change angles quickly. He is fast at closing the distance, but it's sloppy. He dart's in and out with a predictable rhythm which is why he had tweety birds circling his head in the 3rd round against Danny.

The reason Judah had so much success early on, is because he was all around faster than Floyd for 4 rounds, of which I think he won 3. Judah used angles. Not only were Judah's hands faster, but he was able to play counter puncher, and succeed! He used some amazing angles to land body shots. His reflexes were just as fast as Mayweather's.

Khan doesn't have all the attributes that Judah had to make him successful against Mayweather. With that being said, if Khan can pick up at least a meaningful and impressive win, I would be okay with a Mayweather fight. His last 2 fights have been against nobodies and he didn't look good.

Nobody is arguing that Mayweather is not the better overall fighter with a better skillset.

Sometimes it can be just one advantage a fightet has that takes him over the top.

Again, what advantages did Jermaine Taylor have over Hopkins?

Everything you just said Khan is deficient against Mayweather so was Taylor vs Hopkins, so was Hurtado over Whitaker.

One major thing about fighters always used to stepping into a ring being the faster fighter, when all of a sudden they're not, its somewhat of a shock to cope.
Hopkins, Whitaker, and Mayweatherr still adapt, but all of a sudden the openings they see the things they want to do when they see those openings dont come so easy, as with the speed of the foe those windows that are open close up faster than they're accustomed to seeing them close.

Ever play tetris? How easy it is to orginize the blocks when the blocks are moving slow, but become more difficult for your brain to decipher where they go the faster the blocks move down and place themselves at the base?

    Yep! :deal

I get what you are saying about it only taking one attribute, but Mayweather can adapt to speed.

Like I mentioned previously, the only attribute that Khan has for sure is height and HANDSPEED. I don't see the blazing reflexes that will allow him to get out of the way of a Mayweather punch. I don't see the educated foot work. I don't see the one punch K.O. power. And then there's that treacherous chin. The reason why Judah had so much success is because he had other attributes that challenged Mayweather, and that still wasn't enough.

Im dubious. This fight probably won't even be competitive.

This fight is just not interesting right now, mostly, because of the current form of both fighters. Khan lost 2 of his last 4(albeit 1 controversial), 1 by knock out, and 1 his last fight he was knocked down.

Let's atleast see a meaningful fight before he steps in the ring with Mayweather. But damn, the more I think about, what credible fight is there to be made south of 154? I hope that Manny looks great vs Rios, and we get the dream fight. Now that is still meaningful, if Manny isn't shop worn. Manny looked good vs. Marquez, and ok vs Bradley. He was busting Marquez up before the K.O. That is the best fight Mayweather...4 years overdue!
