this is so true about the Casuals thinking power s everything but what happens when said power guy comes across someone he can't get outta there?its the one thing that excites me about the Andre Ward v Kovalev fight,Kovalev made Froch look ordinary and wasn't troubled by Froch as he took his timing and power away,Kovalev can box though so it could be really good contest.
Floyd as seen with Canelo had enough pop on his punches to halt Canelo and get his respect, sped is great and in Amirs Khans case he usually out boxes his opponents for a while but he gets drunk on his success and ends up walking onto one even Virgil Hunter has not been able to change this and to watch an Amir Khan fight is to watch the same fight over again.
So what about Golovkin as he's not yet been in with a top guy his own size, that can't be held against him as what can you say when someone is seen as so good and dangerous that nobody his own weight wants anything to do with him?
Against a top guy Golovkin may find the KO harder but when he opts to box how many rounds has he lost,Golovkins power is different in that he can drop folk with a jab.

That would be a nuclear reaction punch. Kinetic energy is mass X velocity squared.

Genuine speed is difficult for any one to deal with.

Both power and speed can be overrated, however power more so.
Boxing is filled with heavy handed clubbers, but speed is relative as
you go up in skillset. You match an elite (slow) guy with a slow journeyman
and he looks like a speedster. You match an elite (slow) guy with even a
quick journeyman, and the elite guy still doesn't seem all that slow.

The same can't be said for power, some of the most run of the mill
journeymen are also some of the biggest punchers, regardless of
where they are on the spectrum of skillset.

So speed can be overrated (and often is), but not as much as power.

    Timing negates both though....

You see the fallacy with this statement:

"speed is overrated give me power and timing any day"

I hate Connor McGregor fans, but he is an awesome fighter and after the Aldo fight he said.
Timing beats speed and precision beats power everytime.
