There are countless examples of one fighter beating another who had a lower level of competition than the guy he beat going into the fight, and this should be yet another. Most people believe Spence will beat Brook.

Tell you what though- forget Garcia/Thurman, Jacobs/Golovkin, and Joshua/Klitschko, THIS is the fight I've been looking forward to more than any of those.

It's almost like styles make fights.

Well I think brook will have too much for Spence, probably by late stoppage or ud.

I ain't even gonna bother trying to pick a winner but I agree this is a top match up at welter and as usual with 50/50 fights they nearly always deliver.

My thinking is that Brook is maybe a bit better than spence overall, but I feel that Brook may struggle somewhat with a taller/longer reach opponent. As he did with Carson Jones.

Are you saying Brook's resume is better than Spence's? Because Brook's resume is pitiful. It's certainly worse than Spence's.

IMO yes. Shawn Porter and GGG (even though a loss) by far top anything on Spence's list. That said, I pick Spence.

Well Brook was a late bloomer.

    His resume is pretty bad...

but when he is on point he is a VERY VERY high level operator...

Spence..his resume is building but he has some pretty dominate wins over solid operaters.

If Brook makes weight well then it's going to be FANTASTIC boxing match. Can't wait...

Going to be a tough close fight. Styles make fights. Subtle differences can win a fight. Gameplans can win the fight. Making weight can win or lose this fight. How either men feel on the night can win or lose the fight. It's not uncommon for fighters to have an off night. Anyone who has trained knows sometimes the body just doesn't want to respond.

Think Brook will nick it if he turns up ready just because his boxing is tighter and uses his jab to better effect.

Spence can switch it up at any moment though and become the stalker...but don't for one moment think Brook can't respond to it and deliver his own fire.

It's certainly not worse than Spence's. He has faced no one near the caliber of porter or golovkin. Spence has yet to be really tested so there is still a bit of the unknown to how he'll react when it's not all going his way. Don't get me wrong spence looks the part, has all the skills, 'fan' friendly style, but the jury is still out.

Brook TKO Spence (if he's not drained from coming back down to 147 and his eye isn't wonky).

IMO these are the top 2 guys in the division, better than Thurman.

Ok, but I don't see how a loss by KO enhances a resume. As far as Porter goes, he's the only respectable win on Brook's resume and notice how his losses are piling up. He is not elite.

Well the biggest name on Spence's resume is Algieri, and I think we know who'd win between Porter/Algieri. Again though- I'm going with Spence in this one.

Again with Golovkin. How does being KO'd enhance a resume? Porter is a gatekeeper. And by the way, have you ever seen the combined win-loss ratio of Brook's opponents? It's the lowest of any beltholder in boxing or any contender in his division. Brook's resume is not better than Spence's.

I also think so even though I'm a huge fan of Thurman. They just look better (and a little bigger too) to me. Brook beat Porter more convincingly than Thurman did, although Thurman did look very good against Garcia. Spence is relatively unproven but I'm convinced he's the goods too.

I'm picking Spence too, but it is close to a 50/50 fight. I just hope the winner and the loser get respect, both are world class fighters. Also agreed, Spence's resume is not as good as Brook's but plenty of time to remedy that. Spence has no big names yet but he's been fighting decent opposition.
