The biggest welterweight fight since Duran vs Leonard 1 doesn't yet have a UK broadcaster. What the hell is going on?
It might be the US fights being on at silly oclock for us, most people won't stay up til early hours. I agree, epic fight but hundreds of thousands won't stay up to watch it I suspect.
Sky deal with top rank DAZN most likely won't pay PBC to show their show BT maybe could get it like they did GGG Canelo 1&2, although i would have thought it would have been announced by now if they got it FITE TV - get a fair bit of of USA / PBC stuff, they're the most likely channel, and on unfortunately it will be PPV.
Depends on the how much the rights will cost? I can imagine due to the status of the fight the international rights are very expensive.
This content is protected It’s being reported on Twitter that this fight will be shown on TNT Sports PPV.
Confirmed for TNT Sports PPV (BT). PPV is a shocking call, especially from a new channel trying to establish. It is the same night as Davies v Cunningham so unless they try to shift a few buys of the back of that show but neither is much of a name. Would have been better to add Anthony Yarde to that show, even as a weak oppenent to get eyes on the show.
On PPV wow what the hell is going on? They saw Canelo Plant on the same platform sell terribly on PPV. Even DAZN said they won't put American fights on PPV for UK fans after seeing the buys for Canelo Golovkin III.
It’s Spence vs Crawford you ****ing idiot. How can you moan about paying for a fight of that calibre. You justify the cost of DAZN on here 24/7 then whinge about paying 20 quid for Spence vs Crawford.
So what ? More people were interested in Davis Garcia, which wasn't PPV. It's at 4am in the morning. I'd rather pay for Usyk Dubois than that.
How do you know? Have you asked every single boxing fan which fight they were more interested in? Personally I’d rather watch 2 of the best fighters in the world fight for the undisputed championship (and probably number 1 P4P) than a catchweight bout with rehydration clauses but I guess your phantom survey knows best. Did you moan when Joshua fought Ruiz at 4 in the morning on PPV? Bet I can guess the answer.
TNT/BT famously only show boxing, unlike DAZN that broadcasts a wide variety of sports at a highly month cost.
Never happy with PPV, but this one can't really be moaned about. Outside of the USA, the UK is probably the second most lucrative boxing market, so it's kind of inevitable they would look for a PPV partner. Hope they send Rawling, Woodhall and Bunce over there to commentate.
Difference being that Joshua was a huge name in the UK who everyone knew. No casuals are interested in Crawford or Spence, and there isn't enough interest in boxing fans for it to be on PPV. Garcia Davis was more of a draw in the UK than Spence Crawford (and in the US). Garcia Davis's PPV buys will be more than Spence Crawford's PPV buys in the US and UK combined. Also, for Joshua Ruiz there was a strong undercard starting from midnight filled with British fighters. Completely different. Point still stands - there's no way Spence Crawford should be on PPV. I'd be surprised if it even does 50,000 PPV buys.
It wasn’t a strong undercard. I was there. It was British fighters in 1/10 bouts aimed at making them look good. The only one that probably wasn’t a huge mismatch with the bookies was Coyle v Algieri and that was 5 from top.
