Will this fight ever happen? This could be the first the best vs the best fight since DHL-Trinidad. Who's responsible for it not happening?
Crawford is great, beyond doubt, but let's be honest, asking for 50-50 against a more proven fighter who is a bigger draw is pretty silly. 55-45 should be the agreement. That said, if Spence REALLY wanted it, he'd take 50-50.
If Crawford chooses to stay with Greedy Bob, then you get your answer. I have a hunch he stays with Top Rank.
Im actually a Crawford fan but you can’t be considered great when you faced the opposition he has. His best wins are Gamboa at 135 and Postol at 140. Gamboa has yet to win even a paper title at 135 and Postol has lost to both Taylor and Ramirez also the guy he beat to become undisputed, Indongo, has been literally knocked unconscious in two of his very next 3 fights. With that being said I believe it’s Errol side stalling but with good reason. Almost all of the top 10 WWs is literally on their side and Errol is practically cleaning out the division which historically will suit him well. Bud is just signed to the wrong promoter for that division and when a promoter owns a division he’s not looking to do other promoters any favors. Look at what’s happening with Devin Haney, Bob had all the chips at 135 and matched all his guys with each other and left Haney out of the loop.
They're ducking each other. Evidently Crawford doesn't care that much about his legacy and doesn't really want to test himself, he's happy collecting a paycheck and beating up no namers, and Spence has countless other high profile Welterweights that fight for PBC, that aren't a real challenge for him but look good on paper, that he can feast on. So they're both probably okay with the status quo. But it forced to choose, probably Bud more than Earl.
The guy who publicly announces that he's not interested in the fight, which is Spence. Any fight can be made if both sides want it bad enough and fans push for it regardless of the promotional issues. In this case, one side is stalking the other(Crawford), the other openly admits that he doesn't want it and fans claim he's right to not want it because the other guy is signed to a different promoter.
I don't like either of them that much, but Crawford definitely has the luxury of hiding behind the promotional divide. He can talk all he wants, it doesn't necessarily mean he truly wants it, because he knows he probably won't get it, so it's all just hot air. That being said, I still think Bud beats Spence fairly handily.
Except Spence is the one hiding behind the promotional divide. Fighters make meaningless call out all the time, especially on twitter. But I've never seen a fighter follow up his twitter call out by confronting the other face to face, have his promoter reach out to the other guy's promoter to inquire about the fight and go to their fight and be on the ringside to express interest in a fight they don't really want. Crawford has done everything he could to show his desire for the fight other than pull a gun on Spence's face and threaten him to take the fight, Spence has done everything he could to show his reluctance for it.
You mean he's incredibly good at what he does, and gets **** done, yet people for no apparent reason, inexplicably hate him. They probably just resent him because he's so successful. Then yeah, Trump is just like Arum.
Yeah, they're both guilty, but lately it does seem like Spence is being a little more of a ***** out of the two, that being said, Crawford still doesn't seem all that eaer to face top comp either. And I still think a lot of his recent bluster is for show.
Spence doesn't have a history of ducking, he has tried to fight the best. Bud on the other hand..........
