Apologize if this was alrdy posted but I think this is the main reason the rematch WONT HAPPEN.

    https://www.boxingnews24.com/2023/0...rd-did-650k-ppv-buys-in-u-s-earning-each-25m/

    https://frontofficesports.com/terence-crawford-errol-spence-jr-bout-nets-around-700k-ppv-buys/

Reportedly, from multiple sources, the fight did ~650-700K PPV buys (respectable numbers during this recession). But the midget almost doubled those buys fighting an IG model.

It's public knowledge that SPENCE wants the rematch BUT...rematches typically draw LESS buys unless its a highly competitive donny brook and their fight wasnt remotely close...only pbcscene website gave Spence 2 rounds...havent seen any other outlet give Errol more than Rd 1.

    https://www.fightsports.tv/spence-wants-a-rematch-with-crawford-this-year/

Canelo and GGG did 1.3m then 1.1m in the rematch

    https://www.sportskeeda.com/pro-boxing/news-boxing-news-canelo-alvarez-vs-ggg-1-2-ppv-buys

Mayweather Maidana both fights did ~900k buys

Pac JMM 3 did 1.4m while fight 4 did 1.1m buys

    Fury Wilder did 325k > 800k > 625k buys

*All numbers avail on google search

Daddy Haymon only cares about money and that's why it took so long to get Crawford fights w Porter and Spence. Crawford was w TR so a loss for PBC guys would hurt PBC revenue streams. That's also why Danny Garcia passed on the 2019 offer against Crawford (Danny instead fought Granados for ~1m flat as opposed to ~4m + ppv) and Thurman demanded ~10m purse when he only got ~3m against Pacman effectively pricing himself out...in other words, Thurman and Danny DUCKED.

Hayman - and nearly all experts - expected a very close fight with a warranted rematch. Haymon didnt even want Spence to fight Crawford which is why Spence clearly stated on several occasions the fight only happened because of him (and its true). Al Haymon did not want to sacrifice one of his most marketable assets for a 35 year old that resents him and only wants certain fights.

Now that the 1st fight has concluded and the 1 sidedness of the fight was settled in there can only be DECREASED interest in a rematch and Al wont like that idea. Instead, I think Haymon wants to see the outcome of Jermell and Canelo. Will that require a rematch? Will Jermell fight at 154 again? And the stotyline w Bud continues? Was Bud serious about fighting Canelo at 168?

Techinically Spence has rest of the week to activate the clause but I think the team around him is (RIGHTFULLY) advising against that. Spence should actually fight as the co-main on Crawford's next card...potentially setting up a rematch if the circumstances align correctly.

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury did 800k... thats more than Spence vs Bud and equal to Fury vs Wilder 2 then....

    Painful :-[

And the Tank success communicates a few things. So long as the fighter is controversial and it appeals to targeted fanbases it doesnt matter who they fight. Promote any fight like its a Superbowl...even though Tank aint fought Teo, Haney, Shakur, or even Loma. He fought a part-time fighter whose on his 12th trainer in 4 fights...

Money matters most though so expect more of this nonsense where champs take the easiest route possible, sadly.
