Spence had all advantages vs a 135 fighter but could not stop him..

Spence usually has to hit guys over and over and over the course of rounds. Garcia didnt take that many punches. barring a few lapses, his defense was excellent.

 

That was his first fight at 147 lol of course he was unbeaten...

 

Agree with speedkills above. Garcia’s Defense was very good. Although he never won a round he didn’t take half of the shots the commentary would suggest

 

I saw that too, but even to the body Spence landed lots, no effect .

Still Spence landed enough clean shots too the head to have shaken or stopped Garcia a much smaller guy..

 

Hard to knock out a guy who just wants a moral victory and a payday.

I honestly do. I thought Spence was fighting the way you do when you're against a power puncher.

Mostly through ones and ones and two's. Never ever went for the kill, and his best punches were arm punches.

Spence is know for his relentlessness and power punches.

I think Spence was following a script.

 

Do agree to a certain degree mate. Body shots did land but I thought a lot of them Garcia managed to take On the elbows too. And his judge of distance and footwork helped take the sting out of some. On the other hand if spence is elite he probably should be taking him out with the weight difference

 

Well, I would say Spence was showing too much respect to Mikey. Unfortunately, I only saw the second half of the fight (didn't wake up for the first one), so I can't say for sure was it Spence's plan from the start just to show that he can box too or that he tasted Mikey's power in the first rounds and didn't like it.

 

Spence is a accumulation type of TKO kind of guy.

 

When Spence turned up, Mikey couldn’t match it.

 

Well, even if you can't knock them out you can still give them 350 odd shot to remember you with. I'm not sure Garcia will forget the whooping he received tonight anytime soon. Those later rounds were brutal.

 

I think he respected Garcia a lot and he fought that way.

He wasn't trying to take Garcia out until late in the fight.

He was cautious and took his time.
