Not a great one. He is top 10 P4P, don't get me wrong, but he is not a Mayweather, a Hearns or Leonard. I would have to watch and think, but If I had to bet right now today, I would take Crawford by decision, and Thurman-Spence is about 50/50. I think Porter is tailor-made for Spence, but surprisingly I think Danny Garcia would give him all the trouble in the world. Danny's problem, slow feet, won't bother him against Spence, who is in your face all day. Danny is a really good counterpuncher and a smart, tough fighter. Sometimes styles really do make fights.
That's my main beef with Spence, he's okay, but nothing special, and he gets hyped like he's the second coming of Mayweather, which is flat out ridiculous, not even close, and even the Mayweather that fought Berto beats him. If anything he's a slower bigger less explosive Pacquiao. I agree on your Garcia assessment as well, but I think Porter would be in his face smothering Spence throughout not allowing him to get his shots off, that being said, Porter would smother his own work as well, and probably lose a close decision.
I don't think beating Peterson should warrant additional hype because it wasn't anything we didn't expect; we knew he was better than that already. Peterson is a decent fighter and it adds depth to his CV but little else. All the same, Spence is a terrific fighter and the Thurman fight has to happen this year. There's literally no reason it can't happen.
Agreed, he's good, very good, but I don't see a future ATG in him. Those first 6 rounds vs Brook, showed he could be out boxed proved that overly wide stance of his means he's very reliant on being set to throw, force him to chase or force him continually back and he's beatable. He's no Mayweather, Pac or even a Ward in regards to his ability. But he's in a stacked division and if he can come out on top of this stacked welterweight division it would be some achievement.
