What should happen and what happens in reality are two different things.I think in Spences case where he clearly f**** up, as nobody was harmed other than himself a ban for a year or so and a drinking and driving awareness course would be the way to go as he should be allowed to make up for it. Drinking and driving and causing serious harm or loss of life is another story and it does sicken me how justice is lacking on this front. As an example this summer on a camp site in Wales some drunk 20 something ploughed his car over the tent of a sleeping family on what is normally a quiet site. The husband had to try and lift the car with his wife under it but she died a horrible death. After fleeing the scene he did hand himself over to the police and I now know why as the court gave him a measly sentence of just eight years in jail, he will do only half that probably. I cannot see the difference between stabbing someone to death or getting drunk and running someone over and why it’s not murder or man slaughter? Sadly this is very much the norm after killing someone at the wheel whilst under the influence and in Spences case he count himself very lucky he didn’t kill anyone himself and got out alive. Hope he learns from it but that deleted tweet about being a savage doesn’t bode good for him changing at the minute.
Look, y'all. I think the trainer is also disappointed at that boy Spence. That's probably why he has never seen or talked to him. He would probably give Spence a smack in the head or choke him if he sees him smiling with no teeth in his mouth.
Comparing driving drunk and stabbing someone to death is going way, way to far. Anyone can make a mistake. Not saying he's innocent or will learn from it, but I think anyone can say that they've probably gotten behind the wheel when they probably shouldn't have. Driving drunk and killing someone is manslaughter and you can get life in prison for it. Thankfully for all that wasn't the case here
Well if you read my post I wasn’t saying this about Spence and said he absolutely deserves to be given a chance.Maybe the analogy was a bit extreme but I’m not talking about someone having an accident and causing a death, rather someone getting behind the wheel whilst drunk is something else as they are not able to control something that can cause untold harm. Not being up on Legal stuff it was genuine question however.Im guessing it boils down to intent but in the case of the family I mentioned who lost a wife and a mum whilst asleep in a tent. You can bet that it would feel like Murder or manslaughter to them as it wasn’t even on the road and that serving four years will seem like her life was worth nothing. Spence always comes across as a nice guy and I hope it’s been a wake up call for him.
The point of life is to make mistakes and improve. It get the sentiment, but I don't think you can say never again. But, I will say this. If a law came up where someone could not drive again if they were driving drunk I would not complain too much.
If your average man did that in a pink beattle he'd have the book thrown at him. Since Spence had a fancy pink lambo he gets a slap on the wrist.
Seriously, whats the worst sanction someone could get for crashing your own car and not hurting anyone else?
