I honestly think that Mikey makes more economic sense to Gaymon/PBC. The reason is that Mikey can campaign at 147 for the next 5 years. Spence has 1 or 2 more fights at 147 before he starts missing weight or kills himself doing so. He already looks drawn and skinny for this fight and he lacks the thickness to rule 154. Plus Mikey has the Mexican fans. Who gets the edge in a very close fight?
PBC = African American fan base; Golden Boy = Mexicans; ESPN = Caucasians born in the US. I would say PBC strongly favors Spence.
Well, it depends. Maybe you upset one part of the fanbase, but get another (even bigger) part. If more specifically to the thread question, I believe Mikey is a bigger draw. So, it would be smart for the PBC to choose him (if they were forced to choose only one fighter). Well, at the same time this balance (Spence/Garcia) might shift significantly depending on the outcome of the fight between them.
Mikey on this one. I don't think there are guys lined up to fight Spence, but I would say that no body is afraid to fight Mikey and he appears more beatable. Actually, the winner of this fight will answer your question.
