I will start by saying I have Bud P4P #1 Both are special talents To me, Spence win over Brook is better then anything Bud has done The difference between Bud & Spence? Bud is a guy who started at 135, & is maxed out at 147. Spence is a guy who started at 147, & will one day win a 160 belt. Spence just naturally bigger I see the fight playing out similarly to Spence vs Brook... Bud will have his moments & success, BUT Spence size+power+ relentless pressure eventually wears down the smaller Crawford Lets see if it ever happens tho, I have my doubts.
Don't get me wrong. I think highly of Spence. But to assume he'll be a title holder 2 divisions up because he beat Brook is hopeful at best.
Do you really think crawford, the smaller guy by a huge margin, is gonna go toe to toe with spence? He's not going to go to war with spence like brook did in a million years. He can't do that against spence, he'd be eaten alive. He has to rely solely on boxing on the back foot in this fight. This is a true indication of crawford's boxing skill. He can't go and have a tear-up like brook did, he won't have that kind of toughness that brook did at welter. We will see crawford running from spence, getting jabs in and trying to get a 12 round decision. There's no way this is a brook vs spence type matchup. I think we will see crawford come in as a very small welterweight, using movement to frustrate spence. Imagine it like Spence vs Mayweather Jr, but with crawford engaging a tad more with power shots and jabs when he can.
Peterson is a much more proven fighter his been in with really good fighters the fight with daiz was close but imo he wasn't motivated and postal is completely unproven his win over a mattyesse who imo was a shell and postal struggled with lundy and hasn't looked great in his comeback fight
Yeah, that's fair. I'm very high on Spence, but we cannot yet assume he will win a belt at 160 lb one day.
I think it's going to be a tough fight for Crawford and right now I'd have Spence as the favorite but let's not forget a couple things. First we haven't seen how Crawford will adjust to the 147 division yet. Horn is a good start because while he lacks skills, he is pretty big and he is physical. Second, lets not forget that Kell won rounds over spence until he was injured. He can be outboxed. Lastly, stop with the 160 talk for Spence already. He has a rough physical style which I personally like and really excels when his opponents are his size or smaller than him. It's not going to be as easy with guys who are bigger and stronger than he is. He did take some flush shots last night that may have got him in trouble if he were fighting someone with real power. One step at a time.
spence has canelo syndrome, meaning hes a big welterweight, but would be a small jr middleweight and even smaller middleweight. no way he wins a title at 160.
I think Crawford is the more skillful fighter, he has better foot work, greater variety, counter punching etc. Spence is more one dimensional but he is bigger, stronger, hits hard etc and is skilled himself. Not sure if Crawford is elusive enough to win, he's good but he's no Whitaker or Mayweather. Depends how Spence deals with Crawford's movement, guys usually come to him, can Spence cut off the ring well enough with his wide stance. Will he even need to being taller and rangier? I'm favouring Crawford to win a decision but wouldn't shock me if Spence won or even stopped Crawford either. I need to see more of Spence against different styles to gauge him better, he's still got a lot to prove.
Peterson beat Diaz. Diaz was the Olympic medalist so they tried to make it controversial, but it was a clear win in my opinion. Postol never seemed all that good to me. He had heart, but is fairly limited in skill. His fight with Prograis will let us know if he was anything more than Matthysse's daddy.
Even a post-Golovkin Brook > Postol, Diaz and whoever else Crawford has fought, which renders moot any debate over whether Peterson is a mite better or worse than Crawford's recent scalps.
