Say Crawford breaks away from Arum after Bon washes his hands with him, and Spence is immediately up for fighting the best again, and that this gets made in mid 2021. Who you picking? For me, right now, I pick Spence. For all of those saying Spence didn't impress vs Garcia, I can't imagine what you'd have to say about Crawford vs Brook. Outside of Horn, who was badly drained, Crawford looks to be having issues with the bigger WWs. Mean Machine had him down, Brook was winning rounds and out-jabbing him and Benavidez was also doing well before he went all skanky leg. It goes without saying that Spence is several levels above all of those. To me, the thing which looked off about Spence this weekend can be put down to more than a year's inactivity, where he wasn't able to spar or train for months. I thought Spence looked brilliant vs Garcia all things considered. He's come back well and is incredibly lucky. Spence has shown lots of different dimensions. He's shown a damn good jab and the ability to use it well and in differing ways. He's shown just how hard he is to outbox, as he completely shut Mikey Garcia down. He's shown some brilliant, range-finding footwork with his short half steps in and out and beautiful, angular ring-cutting skills, as well as a decent defence and power. And vs southpaws, Spence doesn't have a lead foot to have to workrate. There's less obstacles for him to get his body work shots in. His performance vs Van Heerden was absolutely brilliant, and he shows he has zero issues with Southpaws, and actually excells vs them. Crawford's style is all about range-management and he's always been able to pick his spots, get his jab going, and manoeuvre his man wherever he needs them to go. He's never had to fight at a pace, and at a range he doesn't like before like Spence did vs Porter. Obviously because Crawford is that good, he hasn't had to. But how does that hold up against a bigger man who has the skills and style to force and impose this style and pace on him? I think it may be too much. Now, I actually think Crawford has better footwork than Spence and is quicker, but it's the trouble he's had with others Spence's size which worries me. The other scenario, the one which I think most pick and I can see myself for sure, is that Crawford uses his better footwork to create the space and angles needed to land cleanly on Spence which keeps ESJ honest and lets Crawford dictate the range, pace and take Spence into his wheelhouse where he beats him in a boxing match. I can see that for sure, as Crawford is a beast. But my pick is that Spence gets in-range enough to win a nip and tuck decision. What say you?
I said it years ago, and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind. Crawford dominates Spence and stops him late. That being said, Danny, Keith, Shawn and Earl all have far better resumes than The Bud One.
I assume that Spence if in good condition and shape might have better strength and fitness level than Machine. Don't you think so?
Pound for pound, I feel Crawford is clearly better than Spence but Spence is ' a good big man' in the welterweight division. For all the talk about Brook doing well against Crawford, he went 3 and a half rounds ffs! Crawford may have struggled against the Mean Machine but in reality I feel Egis is comparable to Garcia, Thurman, Shawn etc. He would have given all 3 of those dudes problems. I'm picking this mainly on talent and ability going with Crawford, he's a special fighter, for all the talk, I don't believe Spence is.
Spence for me all day long.No way Crawford is going to knock him out and Errol would use his jab and sharp punches to win a decision on points
Machine is not bad. He is good but when Terence pushed him back when Machine attempted to pressure him with contact I knew that there are different S/C levels between them. Ok, Terence won this one and not likely will wish to have Machine in the ring again. If Machine will come in stronger, he might defeat Terence regardless of his fans hopes and fact that Machine is from Lithuania, so must be not enough good. Vergil Ortiz Jr instead of Machine had destryed Terence in this fight. Crawford never ever in his life had in the ring vs him dude that is not physically weaker than he is. This is reson why he will be destroyed when he will had stronger guy that is capable to pressure him and Terence will be pushed instead of his opponent.
Crawford took Brook out and wasn't scared to trade with him. I thought the win against Kell was extremely impressive, though Brook had no business going back to 147lbs. If Crawford isn't scared to trade with Brook, he isn't scared to trade with Spence. And Spence has shown he is vulnerable a few times in the past. He's also shown he can be outboxed too (A certain Kell Brook springs to mind). I fancy Crawford all day long to dominate Spence on points, and maybe even KO him.
I think Crawford has sneaky power, but don't see him hurting Spence. Brooks' jab gave Crawford some trouble early so I imagine Spence would implement the same. Spence on points for me, but it's a 50/50 fight no doubt. Both guys are special and this needs to happen in 2021.
I think it's hard to fight like Spence without the reach advantage, but he's shown some versatility and adaptability. With both at their best, Crawford wins a decision.
I think Crawford stops him. I am more of a Spence fan, but consider that he mostly has fought guys who aren't slick in the pocket. His agility enables him to outwork his opponent without getting hit too much, but obviously he leaves himself somewhat open given the number of punches he throws. I suspect Spence would win rounds but Crawford would time him and hurt, and his defense would negate some of Spence's good work. Would be a great fight and it's a real shame it's probably not going to happen.
