Not saying he lacks skills. He obviously has skills which allowed him to connect good counterpunches against Thurman and win all his other fights. I simply don't see him landing enough against Spencer because of Spencer's hand speed and defensive abilities. Just my personal opinion. BTW Running is part of Thurman's style just as it is Mayweather's. A better question is why wasn't Danny swarming Thurman as Porter did.
i don't think Crawford is on Spence's radar just now. The reason i say this Bud fights at 140; Spence at 147, some fighters just don't like to call out guys in weight classes below them, especially if they don't want to or can't make the lower division weight Bud is busy (mid-August unification fight with Indongo) there's plenty of solid competition within Spence's own weight class (for now) without having to look outside elsewhere when Spence does look outside his division, he might just as well look to JMW, and call out (Jermell) Charlo, Andrade, or Lara
Spence fighting DSG is a great way for Spence to get more fans to like him. I'd love to see him ice that weird hair-lined gimp
Because he knew he had the fight in the bag, and cruised to victory, Why risk taking unnecessary punishment or a lucky KO punch.
Because Danny is not a swarmer. Throwing away the last three rounds of a fight is not a style. Keith ran because Danny, in desperation, stepped up the pressure. If they rematch, Danny will do much more of that. I would favor Spence against Danny. Too many weapons, especially going to the body. But Danny can brawl, counters very well, has ok power at ww, has a granite chin and his hands are fast. His footwork is the problem.
Until the Brook fight, I thought Spence would easily outbox Danny to a UD, after that fight, I think Errol may struggle a little with Danny's style. Errol is there to be countered, and for all of Danny's slow footed-ness, he's an excellent counter puncher, has decent power and the chin is granite. Danny is more accurate than Kell and I think Danny counters him all day. Not ready to pick a winner yet, but I no longer think Danny would be out of his element against Spence. The people saying Spence KO's Danny, won't happen. He protects his chin too well and when he does get hit, he takes it.
I agree Danny is tough as they come and is a very underrated counter puncher. He has the power to hurt Spence no doubt and he has more power than Brook. This is a much closer fight than people think it will be.
He just wings hooks, often completely missing the mark. Timing Khan or a nearly blind Matthysse isn't exactly a daunting task, he's not a savage puncher either... Look at his KO ratio, it's actually lower than Brooks, that said neither have serious power at the world stage. It's a solid fight, but Spence breaks him down en route to a late stoppage.
How Spence goes to the body is one of the reasons Danny will give him a hard time. Someone goes to the body/you counter to the head. Danny is great at this and punching with guys.
