No. He would be jumping 2 weight classes and fighting a guy who isn't going to break when he is hit. Spence will be discouraged, eat Golovkin's jab, then probably dance his way to a decision loss.
This is ridiculous, there are no WWs that can beat Golovkin, Jacobs, Big Charlo, Saunders, or any other top level MW. This is getting to be a very annoying topic.
Surely GGG would have a massive reach advantage over a tiny guy coming from a much lighter weight, not every welter can make it at middle the same way, even Ray Robinson was beatable at middle but undefeated at welter and he had a reach much longer than Spence and even longer than most middle`s, don`t think Spence has the body structure of a middle, I think he may do much better vs Canelo at light middle, he should certainly have that fight at that weight first before anyone can tell he`s ready for a powerful middle he can exploit his reach so well by using the longest punch, the jab because it`s full extension from the lead foot, that`s a massive constant hurdle.
Stop it,look how close Spence v Brook was until round 11 and then look at how Brook fared against GGG,it ruined his career. Now given three tune ups at Middleweight he could maybe compete but for him to jump from Welterweight to 160 against the man of the decade is madness. One final point and I know it drives Michael Montero crazy is all this recent weight jumping thing and fans expectations of their fav boxers. Let’s just see how recent weight jumping guys fared,Amir Khan with his shock announcement of him n Canelo ended in a horrendous knock out despite him winning rounds before. Kell Brook followed only went a division higher at 160 and yet again despite him winning rounds it ended in another horrendous fashion with a broken orbital(GGG “I break his face”). I’m sure there’s more but the last one is Rigo v Lomo which whilst not being KOd he would of been had he not quit. Paulie M says it’s the steroid generation that has made weight jumping possible but given those recent example I think it’s pretty clear that going up in weight is still very hard to do.
