I really don't understand the hype and ballyhoo surrounding Prince Patel. Didn't Charlie Edwards beat him a mere 5 times in the amateurs?

 

In them six fights edwards got dropped three times though.

 

I don't get why he's calling out Derry. It's like the whole Frich vs Khan Twitter beef: what's the point of 2 fighters syirring it up on social media, if there is no prospect of them actually fighting each other.

It seems to me, Patel is trying too hard to be a Hamed clone. Yes, Naz was a goof sometimes, but he did the business in the ring, where it counted. As you say, let's see if Prince Patel can do likewise. Because if he can't, he'll only make himself look foolish.

His fights aren't even shown on to are they?? Most decent domestic flys and superflys will get him out of there in 3-4 rounds.

Selby even said himself to Patel face last week that he doesn't want to box him unless there is a title on the line, that tells you something don't it.

 

Terry I know his your friend but his pretty poor. Wasn't a great amateur, looks wild and sloppy and doesn't punch that hard. Selby would embarrass him let's be fair

Nobody said Derry is racist but he did say something that is racist, that's the issue people have, as well as people who didn't have a problem with Derry saying that because they don't like Patel which is far worse, and Derry should get a punishment from the board for it IMO

Yes if fury is getting constantly fined by the board and getting brought in for meetings for expressing pefectly normal views then it would be a double standard for Derry not to get fined for blatant racism

 

I'd say with fury there is a bit of interpretation there (don't think there's anything wrong with being anti abortion for example even if I don't totally agree with his standpoint but can see how some wouldn be very offended by it), with Derry's comments there very little leeway he has, even if Patel was a total tit beforehand to him it's no excuse to say that, that he deleted the tweet says everything.

And if he beats Flanagan he's going to get a ton of **** thrown his way, right now the press doesn't care about him but if he wins he becomes relevant and he'd have nobody to blame but himself if that happens after win or in the buildup to the fight, totally idiotic from him really considering it could be a massive distraction for him in the buildup
